2010 MotoGP season

Ducati's Nicky Hayden has admitted he could be "in the doghouse" for ruining the launch of his team's new bike by posting pictures of it on his own website - news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/mot...

But other than leaving the team's factory with a red face, Hayden says he came away feeling confident and happy with his 2010 MotoGP bike.

His team-mate Casey Stoner says he is ready for the new season and claims he can see a chink in the armour of world champion Valentino Rossi.

"Sometimes Valentino can be very quick on the weekend but then struggles in a race," said Stoner.

Who do you think will make an impact this season? Can Ducati challenge Yamaha?

As ever, we'd like to hear your thoughts on the forthcoming MotoGP season.

..getting temperamental when when you lose, is generally regarded by fans of any sport, as being a 'bad loser'..and therein lies the difference. You percieve it as acceptable saying it is the sign of a winner..most others regard it as petulent and immature.
Nobody is doubting Stoners ability, we all know he is blindingly fast and can bring something to the table every time he lines up on the grid, however as a rounded package he has areas he needs to work on.
Saying "well Valentino said this" or "Jorge did that" doesn't alter anything..Casey still needs those areas looking at if he wants to be regarded as the complete article, a true Champion.
He's still only 24 and I'll put it down to that for now, but I think this year is important for him both on and off track, if he stays in denial, like most of his fans, he'll learn nowt'.

Oh and by the way..the quote from Stoner used by Aimee L - BBC Sport to start this thread, is only a small part of an interview he gave at the GP10 launch last week.
It is slightly contentious the way it reads, insinuating Casey was having a pop maybe..If you read the whole shebang, on any proper GP site, you will see it was not meant like that..
Lazy, shoddy reporting? or a deliberate omission to get the fans at it?..;-)

I don't have a problem with Stoner to be honest - I am probably in the few that recognise his petulance as a mere desire to be the best.

I also can't see Rossi being affected with any of his comments - however they are presented (wosideg (U14302796) ;))

wosideg: "..getting temperamental when when you lose, is generally regarded by fans of any sport, as being a 'bad loser'" Yes. Or 'Aussie', as they're also known.

Just kidding. Love Stoner, and hoping for a great season.

good to see someone else refers to stoner as 'moaner' we've called him that for a couple of years now. we swear he has a book of excuses he refers to before a race, just in case he doesn't win. Also does he think that a different crowd will go to Silverstone than Donnington so he won't get booed, and we are Aussies so we hate whingers.

I think winning a world championship AGAIN is pretty spectacular.

altho it was a risky move, the reason we don't like stoner is because he forgot the risky move he did prior to that one and nearly caused vale to crash. rewatch the race and you will see. too many racers are arrogant and that's another reason we dislike stoner but like rossi. he knows why we at donnington don't like him and he has tried to change. at teh end of the day he is an aussie and that's never gonna be popular with a true brit is it !! roll on silverstone. let's hope there is a day of heroes on the thursday as well.

who does stoner think he,s kidding? i remember biaggi saying "on equal machinery i can beat rossi 9 times out of ten" and eventually had to go and hide in wsb, then sete committed motogp suicide by getting rossi moved to the back of the grid by complaining that his team had cleaned his grid spot,an angered Rossi said "gibernau will never beat me again" and he didn,t Vale effectively ended his career, so for casey whinger to say he can see a chink in the G.O.A.T.s armour smacks of grasping at straws, the only time stoner consistently beat Rossi was in 07 when the ducati was between 10 and 15 mph faster than than the M1 at varying parts of the season and was on VASTLY superior bridgestone rubber.then came 2008 with Rossi on an improved but still slower M1 but crucially on equal rubber and we had the season defining Laguna Seca showdown were Vale broke stoner and went on to take the championship, then 09 and a brave challenge by lorenzo untill Rossi broke his will at jorges home gp and where was casey, suddenly he,d developed a "mystery illness" later attributed to lactose intolerance but really it was Rossi intolerance he could,nt tolerate Rossi beating him on a regular basis.so casey keep telling yourself you can see a chink in Vales' armour and eventually you might start to believe it.

Without doubt Mr Rossi is the greatest Modern Motorcycle Track Racer I read so much rubbish from the so called motorcyclists of today regarding him being the best of all time ridicules he is one of the best.
The others I can name are Jimmy Guthrie, Geoff Duke, Ago, and the late great Mike Halewood these where all head and shoulders above others in there time given the modern mercenary that riders have today who nose how good they would have been.

Now the greatest Road Racer this is my opinion was Yer man Joey whom I enjoyed watching. As for boring not at all if you donít like it simple turn it off.
