Beckford Transfer Request

League One Leeds United

comment on the article

Just like i said yesterday - it will come down to player power and Jermaines wishes.

Unfortunately this was always on the cards and wasnt helped by the section of fans who still give him stick despite all the goals he has scored.

Thanks for everything Jermaine and good luck at your future club.

It is a matter of money. Beckford is out of contract at the end of the season...FACT
He has put in a transfer request....FACT
Leeds must sell him in this transfer window or they will get nothing for him in the summer..FACT
Bates is Chairman... FACT

I rest my case

According to some reports Newcastle have offered 1.5 million and have said they're not going to pursue JB any further if Leeds don't want to know at that price. If he's as good as everyone else seems to be saying he is then 1.5m doesn't seem like a lot. If I remember rightly the Leeds balance sheet wasn't too bad at the end of last season so we don't have to sell. So what's the deal about all these clubs trying to get JB on the 'cheap'? Are they basically saying that actually they're not that sure how good he is and the low fee just demonstrates that they think he's a bit of a chance? Maybe good as cover but not much else? And if he stays 'til the end of the season and we go up, how much have we lost even if he goes then. (And who to? Just another Championship team or again as cover a Prem team...??)Going up will net more money anyway, and being in the Championship will make US more attractive to someone to cover the loss of JB. And was it my imagination but did SG appear less than too concerned when he was speaking about the JB situation after the MU game? I reckon he's got bases covered already.

Beckford is a frustrating individual from his temperament to his often missed chances. If he wants to go I say thanks J and good luck and let him rue his biggest missed chance,Leeds back in the prem.He will get a few games with Newcastle and next year will prob be 4th choice in the prem. Grayson is a shrewd manager no doubt.he will have to deal with more important situations over the next few years. it is more important that SG stays and I still wouldnt be surprised if he got JB to stay. Either way super super Leeds

sorry just to add Ken Bates has done very well for us forgetting his background. He is a business man and a good one at that. He appears to back SG and that is what we want. Some fans will obviously never take to him for the c###### connections. now trying to like D Wise that was too hard no matter how good he was doing. breaking a teammates jaw as he slept.....................

brianles ..Alot of fans have been blinded by the fact that he scored the winner against the mancs.
I've no problems with him leaving, we knew at the start of the season that he probably would anyway.
I'm just disappointed that he couldn't(he may still do) finish the job, see out his contract and get us promoted. Then I doubt any Leeds United fan would begrudge him leaving.

The leeds fans who whinge at becks, have no idea, any player who notches 20 plus goals a season is a must these days, tell me who else will get the goals in the leeds set-up,no-one.
The only sad thing is he will not see out the season,Newcastle or Middlesboro will be no good for him,he should stay put,and then have his choice of club in summer,on a free.
