First of all, we keep a clean sheet, and then the best news.......STURRIDGE SCORES TWO GOALS!!!!!!!!!

Plus, we thrashed them without our african players, which is another good sign.

sprek1212, re: Michael Woods.
He had a fair bit of knee trouble last season he's played a few reserve games this season although he's yet to score he captained the ressies once.
Above that I dunno. Seems like a good lad though, always works hard.

Mash

One thing I would say...

Ash Zhirk & Malouda - if we can't get a decent cross in from the LH side with them three in we want shooting

Does leave us exposed in DM though Ballack needs to step up & BIG STYLE

Thanks docjolen

It's nice to hear how he's getting on.
Any chance he will make a breakthrough, or do you think he will have to move on to get some 1st team football

sturridgw is a brilliant player and has a great potential and a bright future ahead of him. But come on- it was Watford - who are close to administration so they probs had other more important things on their mind but well done sturridge anyway :-)

Sheriff

I totally agree that Ballack can come in place of Malouda to cover the DM position with Lamps on the Right !!!! Joey could move up alongside Anelka and Sturridge. That said, he really needs to get his shooting boots on and SOOON !!! I haven't seen him score a scorcher since Euro where he smashed a free kick from about 28 yards !!!!!

Sturridge is destined for big things, future England international in my opinion.

His uncle Dean was a highly underrated player and I recall him saying about 5 years ago that Daniel was already better than he ever was.

Man City will never get 10m development fee for a player they hardly played and bought from Cov in the first place! My guess is around 3m which would be a steal.

I believe that Sturridge is a good player, so too is Kakuta- but I realise that Ancelotti prefers Sturridge over Kakuta. I don't necessarily agree with Ancelotti, but I guess that is why I blog and he coaches. I believe Kakuta should be given a run nevertheless and let us see what He really has to offer, he reminds me so much of a Arjen Robben and it pains me to see those talent past through the club without the proper mentorship programme in place to nurture and harness these talent.

Take for example, Lassana Diarra that understudied Makalele, only to be sold to Arsenal and now He is at Real Madrid- Total waste by Chelsea. The very same thing is happening with Di Santo. We have invested heavily in these players and we don't show the patience in seeing their apprenticeship period through.

Let us not be shortsighted with Sturridge and not only use him because there is a void, but even when our regulars are back we should find some place for him in the squad, as well as the other fringe players. I guess this may not only be down to the management, it is equally down to the players as well.

Perfect time for Sturridge to start scoring! He has the physical attributes of speed strength and good technical ability but he must learn to focus his mind and if he does then the worlds his oyster. Both he, Kakuta and Borini will be given more opportunities as time goes on. Drogba, Anelka AND lampard don't have time on their side and with Chelsea playing so many games every season, it is likely that these younger players will get plaenty of chances. That also applies to young Hutchinson and Matic. It's a squad game and very few should be certain of their place, in fact none should be unless they deserve it on merit. I think Ancellotti is looking to blend experience, ambition and youthful energy and he won't be swayed by poisoned media whispers from the shadows. Sturridge has been a sub for most of the season but couldn't have expected a look in at City. He made the right decision.

Obviously his not of the same pedigree as Drobba yet but he can do some damage, my only fear is that young players only play well when things go their way, if we are playing a hard fought match and need to grind out a result you want the likes of Drogs, Lamps, Essien to be playing
