Gareth Thomas - What a man !!

comment on the article

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rug...

Fair Play to Gareth , its not much of a secret in Wales to be fair.

I feel rugby is a bit behind when it comes to things like this but hopefully this is a start of a change in rugby.

There are not many more macho players in rugby than Gareth and I wish him well and hope he finds peace in his life after this.

So well done Gareth and thanks for all your years as a Rugby player for Wales and im sure it wont make a bit of difference to your many fans.

"I have to admit that I would be uncomfortable getting undressed in front of someone that was openly gay ....."
_______________________________________________

Oh my god, are you that sure of yourself that you think a gay man would find you attractive?

The usual moron argument had to get rolled out eventually didn't it? Its not about being sure of me being attractive, its about it not being a thought that even as a distant possibility I would feel comfortable with. I find the whole idea of anal sex absolutely abhorrent and I have every right to do so. If there was evena 1% cahnec of a team mate thinking of me in that way I would not be in the least bit happy about it and I have the right to my feeling just as they have to theirs.
Should have remembered that as a white, straight mid thirties male with a decent education I am the most discrimated social group in PC Britain and have no entitlement to my own views whatsoever else the thought police track me down. George Orwell got it wrong by about 10 years.

Why would it be any different in this situation ??

Simple it's not much different. A gay male in a predominately straight locker room is problem waiting to happen - and potentially very unfair on others in that environment

Green eyed etc etc.

If you think gay people are that sleazy and predatory, then surely they must, must, MUST be banned from swimming pools, beaches etc, in case they get a 'funny' idea..after all, they will be near others of the same sex, in potentially intimate situations.

By your logic, that might be too much for them. After all, you seem to think that homosexual people have less control over sexual attractions and urges than hetrosexuals?

What a sad attitude...

In Alfie's own words:
"I just happen to be gay," he added. "It's irrelevant. [...] "I'd love for it, in 10 years' time, not to even be an issue in sport, and for people to say: 'So what?' "

Nuff said, really.

He has always been a true Welsh hero and this does nothing to diminish him in my eyes.

He's obviously been through an immense amount of trauma over this and, if anything, I have more respect for him than ever for NOT making a big deal about this issue and its impact on his personal and professional life.

I supposed that 'straight' players should keep their sexuality out of sight, i.e. no sign of their wives, girlfriends. Because if a gay player can't be with his partner, then there is a tremendous amount of hypocrisy. Certain fans who fancy the WAGS are usually the first to ask "why should we know a player's sexual preference"? Well the answer is really very simple. What business is it of yours or mine anyway?

To all those who say it's not normal and its not acceptable ... Get a clue! It isn't something someone chooses, people don't just make a choice to be homosexual they are born like it! Next you idiots will be saying people born blind or deaf should be excluded. You people with such outdated attitudes need to grow-up!

Same goes for all those saying about feeling awkward getting undressed in the same dressing room as someone who's gay. Got news for you, statistically speaking you probably already have done, many times without ever knowing it. Did anything happen to you? No! Homosexual's are no more likely to be sexual predators than hetrosexuals are so again GROW-UP!

Thank you for writing this article and well done Gareth!

hold on..something id like to check...are u in effect saying that its ok then for a hetrosexual male to get undressed in a changing room full of women then? because they havent got anything to worry about because just because the guy will be sexually attracted to the women he wont do anything ?
