The Beginning Of The End ... For Leon?

Maybe I have a selective memory, but Leon's performance yesterday was as poor as I can remember from him.

He was alot less effective than usual at breaking up the play, and his distribution was sloppy for the 90 minutes.

It was as if his head was in a different place, somewhere nearer his daughter in London to be more specific.

There is no way he's worth 12K a week, maybe now is the time to move him on and invest in a quality CDM, who's not only effective at breaking-up the play and basic distribution, but can provide penetrative through balls and a consistant goal threat.

Whatever happens though, Leon's been an absolute legend at this club and I will always remember his immense contribution over the last 7 years.

East stand I need to ask if you think Leon is not worth 12k a week do you think Lopez is worth 14k that he is getting for warming our bench surely electric heating is cheaper although I know the price of electric is astronomical these days!!!!!biggrin

Where did hear he's been offered 12K??
Thats a hell of a lot of poke for a club with 15000 crowds to shell out.

East_Stand think your jumping the gun with this one, if you don't mind me saying! Friendly has made a valid counter to your article, and I too expect Leon to sign soon, can't see him looking a gift horse in the mouth, though I must admit it does seem to be in the lap of the gods at the moment!.........ok

Not only should we pay him 12k a week, we should pass the hat round at the end to top up his wages!

The guy is a legend - I'd be surprised if there is a player in the history of this club that has won man of the match more times than him.

Sometimes I wish the east-enders would just stick to singing... winkeye

Legend or not, 12K a week is too much for us. I can't believe Gomez is on 14K. If that's true, we are already on the road to ruin.

Thing is its all speculation what these guys are on, nobody but the club and player truly knows what they are getting, its confidential to both so don't stoke the fires please! And Jenkins knows what we can afford to pay our players, he will not take risks by throwing to much money around!

I cannoy imagine for one moment the club would leak player wages. Unless a player openly talks about his weekly earnings I cannot see how anyone would actually know. If true, I would be alarmed. The inflated salaries of the early 1980s (esp when we were in Div 1) must never be repeated.
