Chelsea have already wrapped up top spot in their Champions League group, while Manchester United's injury-ravaged squad face Wolfsburg needing a point to finish first in theirs.

Elsewhere, Juventus and Bayern Munich meet to decide who will go through to the last 16, while Real Madrid and AC Milan are in the box seat in Group C. In United's group, Wolfsburg need the same result as CSKA to qualify.

There are also nine Championship fixtures and five FA Cup second round replays to warm us up on this chilly December evening.

Its a difficult one, i don`t think Fergie will play Owen often enough. Capello says players must be playing regularly and Owen starts the occasional game, coming on more times as a sub. But he still got the goal scorers skills.

He feeds off Heskey - He is his preferred big man - Heskey does a lot of donkey work for Owen - running Channels winning flick ons - Heskey is not played as an out and out goal scorer

if you compare Defoe and owen , Automatically Defoe is a better than owen. but both of them have chances to play world cup. i am sure capello has sympathy for owen. the only problem with owen is the injuries he got which make him less important player and also age is runnig out for owen.

How Are People Rating Defoe And Owen On Who Is Better? Well Record Says Owen Who Has Nearly A 60% Goals To Game Percentage And A Better England Record Of 40 Goals In 89 Games - But Defoe Is Currently The 'Best'Striker In England - Owen Should Go To World Cup And Get To His 97 Apperance (If Plays Every Game) Because A Player Who Can Outshine Any Forward And Come On And Score . . . . From Anywhere, Anyhow - Should Be A Part Of The Squad Like Beckham And Defoe Should Be There - Discussion Ended !!

Sam and Mikey !!

Owen should be one of the players on board to the World cup because his movment is top class and if he gets a player like Hesky feeding him in, he will score goals! Just look last night for the 3rd goal when he was expertly found and could run straight at the keeper and still composed himself for the finish. Cappelo can't not take him.

They should take five strikers:

Rooney (Class throughtout qualifing)
Agbonlahor (He has had a brill season with Villa)
Owen (See above + he can produce pure class when needed e.g. Manchester derby)
Crouch (he provides a threat from corners and balls in the box)
Defoe (Best striker in England at the moment)

If Cappelo takes theses players they will be one step closer to wining the world cup (Still think Barzil will win though, Oh and before you say about national pride, I'm Scottish)

People who bring out all these statistics from events years ago are crazy.
They sound like Stan Collymore on Talksport who knows very little but tries to back up his ill thought out ideas on statistics he has found somewhere.
Lets hope Owen get his sharpness back as I think we can all agree that cant be a bad thing for England.
At the moment he certainly doesn't deserve to be in the squad though.
