First of all, hats off to the players for a terrific two days of golf. It has been outstanding!
So, at the half way point Rory is perfectly placed to pounce over the weekend. With a great draw tomorrow (paired with Louis O...)he'll be a happy camper and is also helped by the arrival of PH on the scene. PH won't go away that easily and will assist in upending Lee W. Get your money on the next big thing. His name is Rory McIlroy. Go get'em Rory. You're the Champ!

Those three finishing bogies by Rory have probably closed the door. But there are still 18 holes to go.

The putts seem to dry up for him when it matters most, he'll get better though!

The problem as far as my armchair prowess can detect is that the putts aren't heading for the middle of the hole. The best putters make their putts look in all the way. Both Rory and Lee seem to drop them in the side or lip out an awful lot more than some other players. Fortunately (or perhaps not depending on how you look at it) they are much more accurate than a lot of players, and get a lot of chances which highlights this more than some other players. I am sure both players feel they should have had multiple wins over the last 2 seasons.

i feel the only problem with mcilroy is that he cant get to the top quick enough, once the excitment becomes more normal he wont make nearly as much mistakes. i feel its far from over this week tho, westwood has had some very sketchy final rounds in the last 2 years and rors is capable of 64 in the right mood

Did you see that sign jump up and hit Rory's club? Outrageous. I don't think he'll be wanting that ball back either the way he lobbed it into the trees/desert.

Bigkev's point being demonstrated.
