'Wales fear centre Tom Shanklin could miss Saturdays autumn test with Argentina'.

I'm really not too worried with this, infact i think it could be a blessing in discuise. It could be used as a chance to try a more dynamic back line, Hook 12, Roberts 13, Shane + Tom on wings with halfpenny at full back.

Does anyone agree that a small back 3 will do us no favours against argentina. With the style of rugby as it is, Hook, Hpenney and williams can expect 3 box kicks/up and unders each. Each failed take is as good as a turnover. We struggle with 2 small wingers. Sacriface hpenney for James. Just like Gatland should have sacrificed Paul James for Lewis-Roberts right at the start! Even if he does lack fitness, it doesn't matter if you have a stunning backline if you dont have a scrum. Ask the lions first test...

I'm gona buck the trend here and suggest young Jon Davis is given the opportunity - Hook has fronted up well but I think the powerful Davis has great hands and this good be a blistering partnership - Either way is an interesting option but we know what Hook can and cannot do - Let's see what this young fella can do alongside Jamie, who's also not having the best of Autumns. No Stoddard for me please I think he's the backs equivelant of Andy Powell a lot of huff and puff and the odd bit of brilliance interspersed with disaster.

I would have an exciting Hook and J.Davies 12 and 13 and put Roberts at 15.

1/2 Penny and Shane on the Wings.

Start J.Thomas at 6. With E.Roberts starting at Tight and I.Thomas at Loose Head. Give Gethin Jenkins and AWJ a breather.

roberts is the main man atm so should be given every opportunity to still grow into the 12 role outside Stephen Jones. there's no need to change his position.

why not try the direct replacement in Davies? thats what hes there for

davies plays as a twelve the majority of time therfore would not be a direct replacement. That said, he would be y choice at twelve with roberts at 13.

Peel
jones
Williams
davies
Roberts
Halfpenny
Stoddart

Wales looked weak at the breakdown, and as if they did not want to be there. Peel was better than Cooper but needs to stop running across field first. Players were carrying as individuals- basics!?!

Stephen is the best 10 in Wales as he showed on the Lions and the start of this Season. Still need more creativity in midfield (Gav please hurry up).

Why are players not playing with their heads up any more? The IRB have made a mess of what used to be entertainment as all games turn into a ridiculous game of utterly pointless kicking.

Finally, why were Wales wearing yellow??

Peel, Jones, Williams, Jon Davies, Roberts, Halfpenny, Hook. This would give you a powerful defence in midfield, whilst still allowing Roberts to use his pace and power out wider.I know Jon Davies his a youngster but I think this is worth a throw of the dice. Keeping Hooky, Halfpenny and Shane in the back three, although remaining light still keeps a big kicking game, which if the Enland game is anything to go by will be well used!!!
PS Id also go for JT before Powell, just for the honest endevour!

I also think that Jon Davies should start. Much as I think a Hook/Roberts partnership in midfield would be very exciting I wouldn't be keen ov having Morgan Stoddart at full back, especially against a team who will be putting a lot his way.
Also agree with Scaramanga and would start JT over Powell, who would make a better impact sub after 60 mins.

For me i think we should take the oppertunity and approach the game with a winning intent rather than a defensive one,i,e,M Roberts,S Jones,J Hook,J Roberts,S Williams,T James, L Halfpenny,(play to win rather than keep the score respectable)i don't now if you people agree but we look lost with the current game plan and seem to be restricted in our natural ability.

SJ runs like his arms are too heavy for him to lift, he is a good OH but I feel DB will be played more and more as he is seen as the future. He needs to grow into the test shirt and SJ needs to let that happen for the good of the future of the national side. GH is not even playing rugby so what is the point of banging on about him in these threads about the immediate Welsh centre dilemma?
