Well done to our Baby brothers from across the ditch for Qualifying for South Africa. Lets hope we a group now of Australia, England South Africa and New Zealand. Wouldn't that make things interesting.

Apparently one of England's more influential players plays in the MLS!!!

Please God we draw France in the group stages, if only to provide a speed bump that puts them out on goal difference ( a la Scotland in 1982 ).

Talk about UTU!!

I thought this deserved a bump?

wheres all the haters now???? after beating 15th ranked Serbia they easily deserve to be alongside the other nations competing. Maybe not Final contenders but whipping boys, no way!

Well done. I'm surfing the web to see if I can get any video.

With this and the Australia result ( to be honest I was more impressed with that because you can be sure the Aussies were trying their best ) it is looking very positive.

Fingers crossed the AWs will take just the right amount of confidence from this.

theres the goal... I'm glad I woke up at 3am to watch it because it was well worth it bro..

Only fear now is that other teams won't underestimate us! we need that whole under the radar approach.

Ok, so you scored a half decent goal... I believe of course you should be at the world cup on merit as you can only qualify by beating the teams that are put in front of you.

However playing small pacific islands and Bahrain made your route to qualification very easy.

Good luck though, I reckon you have the ability to perhaps cause an upset or at least get a draw with one of your group opponents.

how else should they have to qualify?? they have topped their confederation which should normally be automatic qualification but FIFA realise its quality and its not. So they have gone to play the best non qualifier from a confederation with billions of people and beaten them too.. what do you want them to do? go play the best no qualifier in another confederation?? where do you draw the line??? this is a world cup. Every region needs to be represented and a team thats just beaten a 15th ranked FIFA nation, i'd say easily deserves to be there

Keep fighting the good fight.

A lot of people want a closed shop heavily weighted towards Europe/South America. Way to grow the game guys.

Why have a World Cup then?

I am old enough to remember Zaire at the 1974 World Cup - pretty dreadful. By the end of the tournament in 1990 Cameroon had reached the Quarter Finals.

We haven't had a winner yet from Africa, but there have definitely been improvements.

Japan would have been considered easy beats 20 years ago - they looked pretty assured to me on Sunday.

We may get tonked when the real competition starts - I'm hoping not and the last couple of results suggest that this may not happen.

People should be reminded that in 1982 we had to play more qualifying games than any other nation had ever done before ( and possibly since ) and we were played our last qualifier in 1982 - the year the tournament was being held!

A bit of slack needs to be cut here.

what nz lacks is technical ability. they are a pretty strong team physically speaking.

Yeah but all physicality means in the modern game is fouls awarded against you.
