Live Twenty20 - South Africa v England

England
comment on the article

Afternoon folks. The working week is drawing to a close, your eyes are locked firmly on the office wall clock, and the remaining hours of your job are proving about as much fun as a Jedward Christmas album.

Fear not. For I bring you the perfect distraction to see you through the remainder of your Friday before the weekend mayhem begins.

It's Johannesburg, it's South Africa v England, and it's Twenty20 slap and tickle. And as if that wasn't enough - England spinner Graeme Swann will be sporting a moustache. Praise be.

Can't blame England if South Africa can't do their sums. Maths really seems to be on the wane these days as none of the nations appear to have a clue how to work out the D/L score! It's just hit and hope... Oh wait that's what Twenty20 cricket is about!

In any case you can never call a Twenty20 match a triumph even if England had bowled South Africa for 60 and won by 142 runs. It would be an emphatic victory but it cannot be called a triumph as there is too much luck in Twenty20 cricket. Maybe if it were Test match it would be different but even then it would only apply if England defeated South Africa handsomely. No I am not England will beat South Africa so don't take that the wrong way. All I am saying that a large victory, or better yet, a convincing series win will be required to constitute a triumph i.e. a 3 (or greater) margin series victory.

considering the last time England and South Africa met in a 20 over game, this is most definitely a triumph

England "triumph" in rain hit match. You must be kidding! Due to some strange mathemathical formula England "wins" by one run. They very likely could have won without help from the rain, but this "win" is hardly something that can be referred to as a TRIUMPH!

did you even read and think about what I posted? Considering the walloping England got back at Trent Bridge, this is a fantastic triumph for the team

Kapnag,
I wasn't responding to your comment, I was giving my own opinion. How arrogant of you to think that your comment is worthy of a response!

Hopefully the England team and management are not reacting as their fans are.
A lot of luck played it's part in this match as SA would have won had it rained only 5 minutes earlier.
Both teams played great cricket and probably deserved to share the points.
For me it is simply a result for the books and nothing more.
England will have to produce a better performance to keep the South Africans at bay.
Maybe I'm being a little harsh on English fans, for I forget how rarely often they win. This is probably why they are so excited.

Okay,England were very lucky to win,I don't know why the english press and the players themselves are making a big deal of the win,if it wasn't for the rain South Africa would of won!I hope SA can square the series tomorrow.

For SA fans,it appears England is already set to be the next number two in the world.Your bowlers have been assessed and found to be over rated.England have a formula for them and better bowlers to face the SA batsmen.Well, the writing is on the wall that this Ashes champions are all out to get your team, including the number one Test ranking. My! what optimism!
