Ruslan Chagaev has beaten Valuev and he was smaller than Haye! I don't know why this novelty factor of height is made into such a big deal.

Chagaev is a good heavyweight from what I've seen of him.. but Haye could take him. So he should take care of Valuev quite comfortably.

But Haye is excellent at hyping up a fight though.

This has all the hallmarks of Carnera v Baer from the 1930's and all boxing fans know what happened then. Valuev will really struggle to with Hate's (sic) exceptional speed and movement. The only Q? for me is that Hate (sic) has only had 2 fights at heavyw. If he was more experienced it would be a nailed on Victory.

"We all want Valuev to win, mostly because he's unassuming and educated, something which Haye isn't."

Don't be so ignorant as to think you speak for everyone. If Valuev wins we all get treated to another few years of snoozefest heavyweight boxing. Because that's what it is btw, boxing, where a man's education counts for nothing and where it's all about slugging verbally as well as physically. That's why I don't get why so many people are upset by Haye's mouth, what did you expect? Or have most fans grown sensitive over the years?

Haye to KO Valuev and spice up the HW division again.

I really hope so. I feel he has around 6-7 rounds to move in, offload and get out again.
If he is unable to do this and the fight starts to go into the 2nd half, I worry Valuev will be able to take over.

Haye to win, but he must do so in the first half of the fight for me.

BTW Boxing's other "circus freak" Primo Carnera, was a v.decent fighter with lots of heart and a decent technique. Got off the floor 11 times, and went 11 rounds with a ferocious puncher in Maxy Baer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5-zl-wkoqE I can see that Haye would be great for the HW division. A match up with either Klitchko would be fight of the year. Let's see just how good he is tonite.

Does anyone know when the fight actually starts? I hate waiting until three in the morning after paying for pay per view events! I'd love to see Haye win tonight btw can't understand some of the negative comments on here about his persona, what do you expect from a fighter, Stephen Fry?

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the Baer vs Carnera fight was'nt as one-sided as the 11 knock-downs on paper suggest?
Watching it again via that Youtube link I was surprised at just how many times Baer was cleanly hit by Carnera before the final KD in the 11th.
I know it's straying off-topic but, for me, Dempsey's destruction of Willard was more impressive.
Carnera was a better boxer than Valuev though.

And also more controversial but that's a completely different thread.

But the "neutral corner" rule had'nt come into effect then, allowing Dempsey to hit Willard as soon as he got back up.
Carnera was also not given the standing count against Baer.

to be fair , Haye ahs seen what Klitschko (sp) did to to Chagaev and has got scared so picked up what he sees to be the easiest title fight.

"Ruslan Chagaev has beaten Valuev and he was smaller than Haye!"-deperer

Deperer, it's not so much the height differencial but the weight differencial.

Chagaev is heavier than Haye, depite Haye putting on extra pounds for this fight Cagaev still weighs in as a heavier guy.

Could Haye really take Chagaev easily.....I'm not sure....Chagaev has a good chin and Haye hasn't fought enough different opponents at heavyweight to really know whether he can really mix it with the big boys...tonight we will find out.
