If Wales can nullify Carter this weekend, they have an excellent chance of wining.Watching the ABs play when Carter was out with injury, they lacked direction, purpose and lost that attacking edge. Also the mid-field duel between Roberts & Shanklin - Smith & Nonu will be interesting

Carter isn't even playing that well....The pack will win it, our lineout and scrum will be the places we attack and hopefully dominate, leaving it up to the ever reliable Stephen Jones to play territory and kick the penalties. With a solid midfield, i've gotta feeling we'll play a territorial, tight and quite un-welsh way leading to a marginal victory, come on boys!

Powell needs a stormer like the last AI
Hook can hopefully catch those high balls and get us territory
Shane hopefully can get a few runs going
Cooper needs to speed up his delivery

errr OK - we need everybody firing on all cylinders!!! smiley

Cmon Wales!!!!!!

Wales dont really need to 'nullify' Carter to win.

Obviously they need to play well and make sure their set piece functions properly, granted.

But Carter's main points source (and therefore his biggest threat) is his kicking. On the field he is good, but nothing that cant be handled.
If we start giving away silly penalties he is gonna punish us for it.
Its worrying that in the last few matches silly penalties have started to slip into the Welsh game.

Thats my biggest concern going into ther match. If anything we've got to keep aware of McCaw as he has this incredible ability to get awarded penalties (even though he commits them) and Carter just slots them over!
A potent double act!

Majesticimperialman makes a sound point. It's not an excuse, but it's always worth remembering that we've not played together as a team for many months, given the lions impacted the usual summer tour. I'm very hopeful though that the extra week of training together will compensate for that. Obviously it can't make up for actual game time, but it's one less thing to hamper our chances.

I know 20 games is a long losing streak, but I don't want to think we won on Saturday just because Carter wasn't playing (even if that would make the difference). Wales need to be a team that don't rely on fortunate circumstances, and I think Gatland is doing his utmost to instil this attitude in our players. If we want to win games we need to create our own circumstances, nullify threats, and most importantly, seize the opportunities we create. If we keep playing the best in the world then I truly believe we'll get there and will no longer just be token-complimented in press conferences as a 'very good team'....we'll be considered a 'formidable team' by all.

In the days building to this massive game, one cannot help but think Wales have an opportunity here... we did have an opportunity to progress to the World Cup 1/4 finals against Fiji too...

All I hope is that Wales don't just expect to go out and win easy! Thats the last thing they need to some degree! There is a balance which must be attained in their mindset which says we can win but it will take everything we've got! Our biggest mistake is going to be going out there with 70 odd thousand people believing and 15 on the field thinking it will just happen...

I would love nothing more than too see a W for Wales and may even shed a tear at 80mins either way it goes, but they do have a job on their hands and results come from clinical excecution! BRING EM ON BOYS!!!

I hate to say it just simply because Graham and co, are going to lose the world cup again. But being that I have Welsh Ancestry and I'm proud of it, I would love for none other than our Pendragon Reds to beat the All Blacks. Unfortunately I can't see it, because Northern Hemisphere sides just can't score tries. You cannot beat a Southern Hemisphere side by kicking goals. What a boring spectacle that is anyway.
