Had Micheal Owen been playing against Liverpool in a shirt other a Man United Shirt I don't think he would have been booed.

Owen was never 'worshipped' at Anfield, most true supporters thought more of Fowler.
Throughout his entire career Owen has been more interested in Michael Owen and England than any club he played for.
Whenever he had one of his many hamstring injuries his whole intention was using Liverpool games to get fit for the next England game.
He had ability scored goals for us and could have become a true legend but most people saw through him and the way he ran his contract down finished him as far as I and many others were concerned.
After the way he treated our club how could/can he have expected a wonderful welcome home. No wonder Rafa didn't attempt to get him back.

Owen ran down his contract at Liverpool, all the time coming out with rubbish in the papers like "were trying to sort out a new contract with Liverpool." - Sorry, Michael. Do or do not. There is no try.

We're then held over a barrel by him, and have to sell him to RM for roughly one third of his true market value. - The less said about Nunez the better.

He's then told he's surplus to requirements at RM. He's told by Rafa to sit tight, RM will want to get some money back, and will not be prepared to pay him for not playing and just going to the bookies all season. As the end of the transfer window approaches, he panics and signs for Newcastle.

He then practically stands back whilst Newcastle get relegated. - Oh yeah, and lo and behold, his contract's run down again! (Pattern emerging?)

He then leaves Newcastle on a free, and signs for our biggest rivals.

Michael Owen : you may have given me some wonderful memories, but at the end of the day, you care about two things.

1- Your England place (How I hope Capello sticks to his guns.)

2- Michael Owen.

Didn't boo you personally today, but I'm sorry, mate. You brought it on yourself.

1) Did he get offered a contract at Newcastle?

2) Why didn't Liverpool sign him if he was a free agent?

If it was you and you had the chance to play for either Hull or United, you would play for United.

Liverpool didnt sign him because he is 1/4 of the player he was.

What i dont understand is why, "if" he was gifted with the option of Hull, Utd or Everton he went to Utd?

Which would give him less playing time hampering his England chances? Capello had proven he will pick on form so surely playing time should be the most important factor.

1)You seem to have all the answers on MO and his contracts, kid. You tell us.

2)Owen is a shadow of the player he once was. He's also proved he's only out for number 1. Possibly why Rafa wasn't in touch.

3)I wouldn't play for united. I'd be disowned by friends and family, and sleeping on the couch for the rest of my life. I'd also have issue's with a group of fans chanting my name one minute, and "you scouse b******" the next.
I'm from Liverpool, as are my family.

Mate you need to chill out

1) No, Newcastle never offered him one. So is Owen not signing a new one really his fault?

2) So why shoud anyone at Liverpool be concerned at him playing for United?

3) Sorry to hear that mate, my family and friends would be over the moon if the PL champions wanted to sign me.

Ah, hey kid. I've got ironing to do before I go to bed, and I've just given up smoking! Stop keeping me on here!!!

IF he wasn't offered a new contract, could this be something to do with the fact that there's more chance of Alex Ferguson having a pint down the Arkles before yesterdays match than MO signing a new contract with NUFC? I also vaguely remember something about MO not being prepared to take a pay cut, as NUFC were skint?

No need to apologise mate. My dad'd break my legs, first. But seriously (that was a joke by the way) mine wouldn't. Any other team (possibly bar Everton) But as I said previously, I'd have real issues with the "you scouse *******" chanting. Enough said. Now the ironing awaits.............

Not under thumb, fella. I just like my shirts done properly. Though don't tell Mrs Redlad that!!! And it also stops me shooting out for 10 ciggies to the 24 hour garage; boy I could kill for one right now. Sensibly, I waited until after going to the match yesterday before I gave up!!
