Portugal vs Bosnia
This is the closest Bosnia Herzegovina have been to reaching a major tourament. Bosnia manager Miroslav Blaževic has already been to the World Cup with Croatia in the 1998 World Cup beating Ukraine in the play off's finshing in an impressive 3rd place.
Bosnia had to overcome Turkey and Belgium to claim second spot. Bosnia are a team that can score goals, their 25 goals in Group 5 is second only to Spain and the 7-0 win over Estonia is a record victory. With Striking talent of Edin Džeko of Wolfsburg, they will threaten the Portuguese defence. Miralem Pjanic, who is only 19 years old, played in Lyon's 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League
Bosnia is ranked 42 in the FIFA rankings.
If Portugal beat Bosnia this will be their fifth World Cup and Third in a row. After losing out to France in the Semi final of the 2006 World Cup they would like to go one better, but first they have to overcome a strong and improving Bosnian side.
A stuttering start to their group stage campaign winning just 1 of their first 5 games of the group, including a 0-0 draw at home to Albania left Portugal with only 6 points from a possible 15, Portugal looked like they might miss their first major tournament since 1998. Portugal improved their form dramatically in the final half of the group, winning 4 out of 5 games, beating Hungary twice was vital in their qualification.
Portugal scored 17 goals in their group campaign, the highest total in the group they conceded just 5 goals which is joint lowest with Denmark and Sweden.
Portugal manager Carlos Queiroz (former Manchester United assistant manager) has already managed Portugal in 1991-93 has 18 years experience in management, but nothing compared to his opposite number one Miroslav Blaževic who has 40 years experience.
Portugal are rank 10 in the FIFA rankings.
So who do you think will win? Personally I think Bosnia might cause a shock, as Portugal have had some troubles at home, including a 3-2 defeat to Denmark, and 0-0 draw with Sweden and Albania and Bosnia can be difficult to beat at home.
