Leeds Triathlon

comment on the article

I did my first triathlon on Sun, the Leeds Tri. I completed it, in round about the time I expected. What I would like to know is, if anyone is on here that did it, is that an average tri, an easy one or hard? I'm looking at doing more next year, but would like a gauge on how I performed.

Hi I did it, it was my second Olympic distance tri and I found it tougher than the first (Allerthorpe near York) due to the hilly terrain. It took me about 13 mins longer.

I've since heard a few people say it was quite tough, and also that the swim was slightly longer then some (their times were a few minutes longer then their average)
What was allerthorpe like? I live in York and may look at doing it next year.
Cheers

I don't know if the swim was longer but the time was until you left the transition with your bike and it was a quite a distance I did it in about 38 mins against 30 for Allerthorpe. Allerthorpe was a great experience well organised and run on very quiet roads I'd recommend it.

I think these people were the serious ones who had a watch on the whole time.
I think I'll have a go at Allerthorpe then, not too far away. I'm spending the winter learning to front crawl properly, I did the swim at Leeds doing breaststroke, took me 52 mins!

What were the distances involved in the Leeds Triathlon per section?

It is a sport I am hoping to compete in next year and would love to have the goal of being able to race in an event in my home city.

Thanks in advance.

The swim was definitely longer than normal, probably an extra 150m or so.
Bike route was far hillier than most triathlons, good if you like the hills!
The run was about half a mile short of the 10km distance and was a touch quicker than normal.

I did the Leeds Tri and it was my first Olympic distance event. I had signed up for London but got injured shortly before. One of my mates did both London and Leeds and said Leeds was much tougher, took him 18 minutes longer.

I'm looking forward to doing more events next year, especially some on flatter bike courses to see what sort of time I can do.

Did anyone do Stockton?
