Premier League
comment on the article

Evening all,

Just one game tonight - in-form Manchester City against out-of-sorts West Ham...it starts at 2000 BST.

City have lost just one of their first five league games, West Ham have won only one of theirs, and have slid into the bottom three of the Premier League as a consequence. Can Gianfranco Zola's side stop the rot at Eastlands? ... we will find out soon enough...

You can follow all the action here:

Enjoy!

To win the league the defence has to be immaculate. Still fair bit of work to do yet. Hace to admit Mark Hughes is responding to pressure brilliantly

Tevez was booed? Oh I assume that he ran up to their fans after scoring that's what Ian Wright, Garth Crooks and every other imbecile pundit thinks is the right thing to do

Given 8/10, Zabaleta 10/10, Toure 10/10, Lescott 5/10, Bridge 8/10, SWP 6/10, De Jong 9/10, Barry 8/10, Petrov 9/10, Bellamy 10/10, Tevez 8/10.

Not looking too bad, if we carry on playing like that going forward I think the top 4 is a possibility. The defence for the two goals (only one which counted) was shocking, and we're still giving the ball away cheaply in vital areas with some sloppy stuff. I don't know what's happened to Lescott, he looks like a man dispossessed of any of his former talents at the moment.

Bit of a stupid system really, surely a team with a game in hand should be placed above a team on the same points, as a team normally averages more than 0 points a game, unless you're Portsmouth of course.

City look to be a good side this season, but re: the quibbling about 4th/5th places, don't forget that if the table actually meant anything at this point in the season, Hull would be in the Champions League!

bit exaggerated, no? i mean i didn't see the whole match, but i can't see any way you could have had three 10/10 performances from two defenders who didn't keep a clean sheet against not exactly the best strike force in the world, and a striker who didn't score (and only made one assist from a free-kick)

I'd like to see Petrov replacing Ireland for more than one game. Ireland is yet to find top form this season.

Richards on the bench should be the norm from now on

In the table the City should stand in the 4th position before Tottenham; they have the same GD & points, but City got this from six plays whereas Spurs from seven ones.

-------------------------

Why stop at giving them a goal difference credit because they've played one less game? If we're to assume the additional game will only increase their goal difference, why not go the whole hog and give them credit for the three points as well?

doh

I did love that comment from someone else about the BBC being numbskulls because they...errr.. put the league in the right order!!!! Some people should really try harder to hide their ignorance smiley
