Club Call - The Outcome!

Super League Leeds

Leeds v Catalans! Good call, it makes sense to let the second biggest rivalry (hehe) in rugby league happen right before the Grand Final. Let them batter each other, and they'll be weakened in the final!

It'll still be a tough one though. Cats beat Saints and got this far. Not going to be easy, this!

I liked the response of the Cats coach when asked if he fancied a trip to Headingley. "Nobody fancies a trip to Headingley, but we can't say no"

"Leeds not so keen on picking us was they."

Ha, ha, ha! Why on earth would we choose the team that finished 5th when we can choose the team that scraped into 8th! Have you got no common sense at all? If any of you honestly think Leeds picked Catalan cos they're scared of Wigan, LMAO.

Leeds made the obvious choice. Catalan are a hard team who utilise their big forwards well but Huddersfield were dire on Friday and I think the Cats will find having to play for a full 80 mins will tire them one heck of a lot more and they are very unlikely to come away with a win.

As for Wigan, mmm. Hull KR (very unfortunately) came up well short on Saturday and Wigan took advantage. I very much doubt, even with Saints recent poor form, that Wigan will get a win next weekend.

Looks like another Leeds-Saints final to me. And as the two top teams in the comp, it's the way it should turn out anyway.

Theres a lot of people slagging the leeds coach off for his choice... But Why??? The Catalans are no push overs and have proved that by beating Saints the other week and now by beating Huddersfield. I think the Catalans are stronger than both Saints and Wigan at the minute. So Leeds Have got a right game on there hands. But the choice make perfect sense as I Still cant see Leeds being to stong for the Dragons and a Leeds vs Saints/Wigan Final is would be must better.... GREAT CHOICE from the Leeds coach. It makes next weekend exciting to watch..Both games.....

Who cares who plays who now? It's the last 4 of the play offs and no one will be a walk over. I did think Leeds would avoid Wigan if they could as Wigan are masters of the one off game and Leeds would rather face them in a final where nerves would more readilly show. Over the last 3 years Leeds have been the team to beat and they have more experience of finals in the last decade than WIgan. However neither team is in the final yet. Saints away is a killer for WIgan even though Saints are definitely slipping as their great squad is now past it's prime. And Catalan won't go to Leeds knowing they can make RL history and then just stand back and watch Leeds run riot. I reckon there'll be at least 1 upset if not 2. What odds Wigan v Cataln come grand final day?

Like I said earlier on in the thread about us being "frightened" of playing Wigan - they're big boys are these rugby players, you know. Fear isn't something that they know much about.

If Wigan were in the same position they'd've done exactly the same thing. Or would you have been too scared of welcoming your biggest rivals, i.e. Saints, to the JJB (or whatever you've decided to call it)?

Not convinced that a fired up Dragons are an easy option. They are looking rough and tough at the moment. Both games will take something out of the tanks of both winners.
Would Leeds have picked Sints at home if they had been allowed ? What do you think?

I'm quite surprised at some of the comments on here.
If the finalists whoever they might be get there then they get there according to the rules of the comp(whether you agree with them or not). The GF is not for the fans to decide or to have the best 'final' for the neutrals or 'the good of the game' or because the top 2 teams 'should' get there because they finished top.
I'd love to see 2 great games of rugby this weekend & another one next.

Whats happened all season counts for nothing in the play-offs, its the best team in the last 2 weeks of the Comp who will win it,as for Wigan being lucky to beat a poor HKR and the Dragons being "gifted" the win by the Giants what rubbish, you can only play as well as your opponents allow and both Wigan and the Dragons deserved their wins, tonight I feel Leeds will have too much class in the end but expect some fireworks with the Big Dragons forwards steaming in, as for Wigan they are the healthiest they have been all season and Saints are a bit busted so Wigan to sneak it and meet Leeds in Manchester, they also have Noble who knows what it takes to peak at this stage of the season and his extra incentive is that Wigan don't want him (the players probably do)so to win it and leave proudly would be a big 2 fingered salute to those Fans and Board who have failed to back him.
