Fergie's confirmed it, so how about people get off his case and start supporting the lad?

Fergie obviously sees him as our next number one, which is great news because he's a fantastic keeper.

He's played very little football in the last 2 years and has made a few sill mistakes, which he will eradicate given time.

Here's to a clean sheet tomorrow, and another 3 points on the table!

If you watch chelsea games and see how almost perfect they are you dont want more mistakes if you are a really true Man U fan. Are you guys fans of Foster or Man U. Please Fergie think again and give Kuzzack a chance like you did with Foster, six games in a row and all he is doing is mess

I'm not convinced Ben Foster will be a very good goalkeeper - last season I thought there were aspects of his game that needed to be improved.
He has always looked poor with the ball at his feet and too slow to move off his line to cover the area between the 6 yard box and the back four.
Unless he improves these areas of his game he may prove to yet another English goalkeeper who is a good shopstopper but poor at the other technical aspects of the game - there seems to be something wrong with the way we are producing and coaching goalkeepers in this country - maybe too many clubs assume that because you are a good shotstopper you'll automatically pick up the other requirements of a goalkeeper - if so it just isn't working.

"big teams don't 'develop' keepers any more"

Absolute rubbish. Never have I read more nonsense in my life!

Casillas was dodgy as for a good few years before becoming solid - does Madrid sticking by him not count as developing a keeper?

Barcelona still stick with Valdes who has quite a few shaky moments - does this not count either?

Do you think every keeper just starts out amazing? flawless? get a grip.

****************

haha.... you just compared casillas to foster. casillas was a top goalkeeper at 23! top 5 goalkeeper in the world, euro champion. casillas was gem, a rooney, ronaldo type level of player only in goal and you just compared him to a goalkeeper who can clear backpasses? someone is being delusional here and its not me.

your knowledge is good about valdes, but you forget valedes until a few years ago WAS BENCHED WHEN HIS FORM DROPPED! barca spent millions to buy the turkish keeper and even gave the backup keeper a chance because valdes was not in form. oh... and valdes is easily replaceable like that!!! add to that? he was twice the goalkeeper foster is now, for one thing he clears backpasses

We need to resign Tim Howard from Everton. I always thought it was a stupid decision to bench him behind Roy Carrol, let alone trade him.

He is one of the best keepers in the world and is a suitable replacement for Edwin van der Sar when he retires

I support Fergie fully in sticking with Foster. Let's hope he concedes another three!

The training of goalkeepers in this country is terrible and needs a complete overhaul.

It is really difficult for a young goalkeeper to find a club that will give him any decent coaching at all, it all seems to be focussed on outfield players.

Foster needs more game. You cannot be a superstar over night. Var der sar did not become a star with just 6 games.....it takes time..Foster is still young. he needs to be very careful with his judgments..

SAF has no choice but to back him, because vds is injured and kuzack is the new david james. the annoying thing about foster is that the two notable mistakes against city were completely avoidable. the first came about because he was fannying around trying to get the ball onto his favoured foot and misread tevez's run. the second was him just trying to be cocky and take it round tevez and he conceded a goal because of it. that kind of trick should only be tried by really good keepers because they've earnt themsevles a bit of slack with the fans for when they mess it up. a young keeper should never do that and should just stick to being consistent and learning their trade. echos of the arrogance of barthez i think. still, he's young, and apart from the odd talent like casillas, most keepers don't peak 'till their late 20's-early 30's.he deserves another chance, but not if he keeps trying to be clever.

foster did alright yesterday, stoke can be a difficult one for keepers but i thought he did well, a clean sheet, 3 points and top of the league, can't complain! hope he continues like this, you get the impression its confidence sometimes that he's lacking.

Foster did really well - commanded the box, came & won the lot.
