Fontainebleau in France is the setting for the 2009 European Eventing Championships. Great Britain's team is bidding to win an eighth straight team gold medal.

Zara Phillips & Mary King are missing from the 2007 winning team, but Britain includes World Number 1 William Fox-Pitt, Olympic bronze medallist Kristina Cook and Badminton / Burghley winner Oliver Townend. The team is completed by Nicola Wilson, riding in her first major championships. Lucy Wiegersma and Piggy French are both competing as individuals.
Britain face stiff competition from Germany and home nation France in both team and individual competitions.

As usual, dressage takes place over two days (Thursday & Friday) with Cross-Country on Saturday and the final Show Jumping on Sunday.
BBC Red Button will show the cross-country live from 10am on Saturday, with the show-jumping live on Sunday and highlights of all three days on BBC2 at 2pm on Sunday.

In the meantime, any comments on the first two days will be on this thread. Does everyone think Britain will win another gold??
