Murray must be wondering if he will ever win a GS. Del Potro showed true grit and character to come from behind twice against the great man.

Not many player could have done that. Lesser mortals have wilted under pressure playing the GOAT.

In an era of Nadal, Del Potro and Roger - Can murray be considered a serious GS contender.

As to the question. I will have to hand it to Del Potro. He is younger than Murray, has a better temperament and seems to have an abundance of talent.

Del Potro has been touted as the next great thing in tennis- he might well be. And at 20 he has 8 good years ahead in which to dominate and emulate the great man.

Congrats Del on dethroning the King.

"So why are people critical of Safina as she too has done well this year but she has not won a slam."

Good point, GB....
ok

------------------------------

Isn't this obvious? Because Safina is NUMBER ONE, meaning she's the best player in the world, Murray is NUMBER THREE, meaning he's the third best players. Which would you say seems more true?

Looking at the kind of hype it seems like Murray will win every slam.

If I was Andy Murray I would be worried as he now seems further away from winning a major than when he started the US Open as favourite. Young guns like Del Petro and Cilic are the new big hitters and agressive in every way. Andy with his passive defense and his lack of resourcefullness when losing is going down the ratings scale and I don`t see being taken seriously as a number again.

Del Potro Vs Murray - Who is Better?

Del Portro. He has a Slam, enough said. Glam slam winners are in a different bracket from the rest. Thats why Murray so badly wants to win one.

Based on results over the last year, Murray is the third best player in the world, and Del Potro is the 5th.

Last time I checked, 3rd is better than 5th, and rankings don't lie.

It also doesn't lie that Murray hasn't been good in slams.

It's not about rankings or stats. It's about personal opinions. Any tennis player would rather have a slam over ten or twenty titles.

"Del Potro Vs Murray - Who is Better?"

This question is similar to which was the better tennis player in the early 1980's (from 1981-1985)out of between Ivan Lendl and John McEnroe. McEnroe then like Murray today gets the points from the perspective of pure tennis-born playing ability/skills, but Lendl then like Del Potro today gets the points from the perspective of superior physique from better fitness and strength attributes.

i think one shuoud not tell bad abt del potro for yelling murray's mother some time back.he was unmatured at tat time.but now he has the best sportsmanship next to Djokovic...
Any how Andy always rocks. No doubt in tat..not only in masters but if u compare their grand slam meetings too, andy lead...
one simply can't say del potro is better jus bcoz he has a grand slam...he's good...but surely andy will come back...he will surely learn his mistakes from grand slams....any one of the 2010's grandslam trophy will surely be lifted by Andy....he's grt....
