I am a season ticket holder for sunderland, and personally I think danny collins is outstanding. He will give 110% every game and is also very consistant and can play any where across the back four. Also with living in the north east Huth is very solid and Tuncay is quality.

Ps. Best of luck lads

Key man in one of the worst defences in Premier League, as you all saw in their inability to defend corners/set pieces on Sat. Steve Bruce isn't daft, this is a very astute sale, may well do OK for Stoke, but Michael Turner will do a lot better for Sunderland!

riverside22 totally agree, he looks decent in a very average defense. Not bothered at all, mensah and turner are much higher quality. 3.5 million is a great deal for SAFC.

IMO Collins was our best defender, average maybe but that speaks more to those around him & he can get you the odd goal from set-pieces, When was the last time any defender scored other than Collins? The case rest SB. I'll keep the faith in you, for now.

are the first two comments a joke??

i totally agree mensah and turner will be outstanding signings. i agree whole heartadly. but danny collins was way way better than anton, nyron, mccartney and the likes. a very sad day to see such a commited pro leave

for me he was our best defender and as we all know he was player of the sason 2007-2008 if i remember correctly. he will be a miss as he is very consitant. however i have mentioned this before in a previous debate. steve bruce knows who the deadwood is at our club i.e edwards and leadbitter...he may have thought this about collins. anyway mensah and turner are of a totally different class to collins therefore we can manage without the aid of collins...

all in all very good signing for stoke for the 2.75 million they you have paid

good luck for the rest of the season lads smiley

Apparently Bruce & Collins had an argument about something and so that's why he sold him.

Burnly have just signed David Nugent on a seasons long lone with the choice of signing him permently at the end of the season. Burnly have got a fantastic deal here! David nugent is a fantastic player.

I do rate Danny Collins but he isn't outstanding. He is a decent and honest pro who has overachieved considering his lack of ability. He is probably the most improved player I have seen at Sunderland. He is 29 and will not get any better. Dissappointed only because it leaves us short at the back
