Starting 11 today

Premier League Fulham

The game starts at 1500, apparently, and Roy has named the starting 11 as follows:

Schwarzer

Pantsil Hughes Hangeland Kelly

Riise Gera Etuhu Baird Duff

Nevland

subs:
Stockdale, Smalling, Anderson, Ki-Hyeon, Saunders, Kamara, E. Johnson

(Not really sure if that's the formation, but that's my best guess based on the players.)

So it looks like a defensive lineup - unless Duff is playing along side Nevland -- with E. Johnson and Kamara on the bench if needed.

I think this is a wise thing Roy's doing. He's taking a slight risk of losing the game, but why take chances on astro-turf (notorious for injuries) with the star players. Most of the defense is still in tact, so if the boys close down the passing, they should be able to win this game.

Fulham loses game 1-0. Wins tie 3-2 agg.

FFC definitely bunkered down. A strategy that ALWAYS makes me nervous-

FK Amkar Perm' Fulham
Shots (on Goal) 16(11) 4(1)

But in ROY I trust.

I must admit I prefer Arsenals attitude of going for the win even away from home. Still its horses for courses I suppose.

Well done you Whites. A season of visits to clubs we've never heard of is in prospect. They did enough, which is always - er - enough.

Not sure how much Uncle Roy wanted this. Like many FFC fans I suspect he could take or leave it. You really hope we get to play some of the better known teams to make it worth the while - or else this Euro-Carling Cup could cost Fulham their Premiership place

Fulham were dominated but Russian teams never win these sorts of games so the result was never in doubt- well done Fulham.

We have to remember just how far away this game was and the astroturf... it's different with Arsenal going to parts of Europe and attacking. Roy definitely picking the right tactics, and we deserved to progress.

Also, with the number of games ahead and todays performance it looks like Roy was right in getting in the amount of midfielders he has! In Roy I Trust

Well done, Fulham. I can see them doing reasonably well in the competition.
