The new TourChampion game is up and running, so it's time yet again to show you're a cycling expert. The riders will no doubt set out to prove us all wrong.

Rules and how to get started: subconsciouscycling.wordpres...

Landis really is the man to a lot of Americans. Go to Amazon and read the reviews for his brilliantly titled "Positively false: the real story of how I won the tour de France". Here's one:

"The overall impression I got from his life story confirmed my gut feelings from before--this is not the type of person who would feel the need to cheat to win" laugh
And another:

"With Floyd, what you see is what you get. He has nothing to hide" laugh
One more strange one:

I hope Floyd is able to ride his bike until everyone who has conspired to get him off it is confined to walkers and wheelchairs!" (??)

He still has the same hip problem he always had (only worse) so i'm really not sure if he's up to European racing standards right now in any case.

The only good thing about Landis, in my not-so-humble, is the fact that his many, many excuses at least were comedic - in that "no, seriously, even *you* wouldn't try THAT" kind of way...

It would be typical of the Love Shack that they're putting out their own mad rumours though....

Who was it who was reading the Landis bio recently? I have a brain like a sieve - but did you find any more seams of comic gold?

YorkRaider

On the off-chance you haven't done this as I didn't initially.

You need to go and log in at one of the sponser pages to reactivate your game account.
That's the four tab on the game site then chose the lower radio button and you'll just need to enter your email address, then they dump you back out at game site.

I never read Landis' book but I'm considering it. Looks like a good laugh featuring:

Thyroid Medication Defense. laugh
Dehydration Defense laugh
The Shot and a Beer Defense. laughlaugh
The Naturally High Testosterone Levels Defense.
Flaxseed oil. A vindictive masseur, not to mention coach. Secondhand smoke. Eating spaghetti Bolognese with steroid-injected beef and on and on...

Having drunk a shot and a beer the night before a ride I can fully testify that no performance enhancement is gained.

I'm thinking of testing out his other excuses. Next year, at the Etape the night beore I will breathe in other people's smoke all night, drink alcohol, take thyroid medication, rub flaxeed oil all over myself, and then spend the whole day pouring water all over myself. I have no doubt that i will ride all day by myself at 47km/hr average.

'having drunk a shot and a beer the night before a ride i can fully testify that no performance enhancement is gained'

It worked for me! okerm

Although it was on the same night rather than the morning after....it definitely made me quicker, i was riding home the back way along a canal path and rather than cross the bridge further on i decided (in my youthful wisdom biggrin ) to take a short cut and pedal on water.....it saved me about 3 minutes by my calculations laugh

But then it did take 2 hours to clean up the not so sea faring pedalo aka bike and clothes sadface

Steppenwolf - superb!

I can lend you some thyroid medication! Got to say that if I double my dose, it doesn't make me faster - it makes me so edgy I'm a danger to myself and others on the road!

I'm surprised he didn't go for the Hamilton "It wasn't me, it was the twin I absorbed in the womb" defense... that was just breathtaking!

Has Bruyneel pulled out of being a DS at the Vuelta? I am hearing he has swine flu.

He's been in hospital for a few days with an acute fever attack (though I think he's back home now). Could be swine flu, though Bruyneel himself says he got out of the Tour really tired and then crashed because of VinoGate.
