Boost for Cook

comment on the article

All-important surgery on Lee Cook's knee has been declared a success.

This week’s verdict was seen as crucial for the player, who has been plagued by knee problems.

And it seems the news is positive and Cook has a realistic chance of getting back to full fitness before long.

His return would give Rangers more options on the left wing, but the search for a left-back goes on after Gregory Vignal was told he would not be offered a contract following his recent trial.

Gary Borrowdale is now set to start the new season unless enquiries about a couple of full-backs bear fruit next week.

And a decision on keeper Andy Marshall will be taken after the friendly against Southampton.

Marshall, who has also been on trial at Loftus Road, played against Kettering and will get another chance to impress on Saturday.

It was hoped that Akos Buzsaky would feature against Kettering or Southampton.

Buzsaky hasn’t been included in the squad for tomorrow, but his thigh strain has improved and he has been cleared to return to full training next week.

Thanks for the update David, A fully fit Cook is something i feel we haven't seen for a while now.

Also any news on Faurlin? ive seen a couple of rumours he's picked up a nasty thigh injury and was wondering if you could shed any light on it?

What did Gorman say the other day about Vignal,"I don't need to see Gregory play,I already know he's quality"? Borrowdale situation is typical Rangers fiasco, the left-back no-one wanted ,brought to LR by the far-sighted genious of our devastatingly well-qualified Sporting Director. Will Gary be any better than Chris 'NeverUpToIt/PilgrimAfter3months' Barker?
Good news about The Pride of Paddington ;Nice and Easy,Leesy.Very tough last 2 seasons for him.
Glad to see The Tangerines are having plenty of injury probs with key players too.

I thought Faulin would be the left sided player we needed. Cant see Cookie being match fit too soon and even then,I think hes lost his confidence. He doesnt have the pace to go round players,so if his skill is not working, hes stuffed. He used to drop his shoulder, twist and trun and really attack defenderssadface. Ive got a feeling Faurlin is a bad injury. A torn thigh muscle is pretty serious. Shame,he looked a tidy leftie!. So,we still need a decent left back and still need a proven goalscorer!

Very astute comment, especially on LC, RHoops.
But remember when Gallen broke his leg when scoring against Pompey on the opening day after relegation? He lost a couple of yards of pace and would never be the free-scorer he'd shown at every level up till then.Still in his early twenties he adapted superbly over the rest of his career at LR. Never what he was/could have been, yet an intelligent,back-to-goal,ball-holding player. At least I hope to Saint Jim Gregory, this is the sort of path for Lee.
Giving back £250,000 from his own pocket from the Fulham transfer when we were skint?magic QPRbubblyLegend wizardAlready
