Just quickly the decison is for England to host it in 2015 and Japan in 2019.

Well done IRB you made the right decision.

Anyway have a bit more time to write the article now. Well my heart was in my mouth especially after the hour long delay. However the IRB announcement was fantastic.

The vote was aparrently 16 to 8 in favour of the proposal from the IRBs committee. Which does make me ask why they needed that extra hour of deliberation?

I understand that South Africa put in some serious lobbying to garner support so maybe that was it. They did complain about the process and even threatened to sue if they didn't win the bid (which personally would have lost them my vote, if I had one, straight away). I wonder if they'll go ahead with the threat?

Wales look set to get games for yet another World Cup. Well I guess it's not that far outside the country and was probably necessary to pull in their votes. From what I understand Scotland and Ireland rejected similar offers of hosting games as they didn't want a joint bid.

Overall I'm just thrilled at the prospect of a fantastic decade of sport in this country. Roll on 2012 to get the party started.

"Well it seems to me that Wales wants to have its cake and eat it! If you don't consider yourself to be a country then why on earth do you have a national team? The Welsh made it pretty clear to everyone that they were shouting for the Boks in the 2007 final, and the anti-English racism you get in Cardiff during the Six Nations every year is pathetic! Yet now that England is holding the RWC you want a piece of the pie!! If the Welsh don't consider themselves to be a nation than the WRU should be abolished and we should have an 'England & Wales' team instead like in Cricket. If you want to be a separate nation than you will be treated like one!!"

-----------------------------------------------

Its not so much Wales WANT their cake, Wales are legally entitled to it, back in 1999 when Wales hosted the World Cup they got all the other British Unions and France to sign a contract stating that any of the other unions must have the millenium stadium as part of their bid :D. Rightly or wrongly thats the situation. Also you can gurantee Welsh fans will sell out all the games at their home.
Legally speaking wales is a principality not a country so they can actually get around the issue of it being held in 1 country and we hold colony status. Though any "race" of people that have their own land, culture and flag are entitled to have a representative sporting team. San Marino have their own team, though its part of Italy etc.
To suggest their is any anti english racism in Wales is plain stupid. There was a massive problem between Wales and England in the 1960's, google "Tryweryn" which took many years to settle down and let to a lot of bad feelings, but to suggest the welsh consider the english anything more that a sporting rival is silly. Your our bigger, stronger neighbour who has us massively outgunned, were the underdog thats how the welsh look at the english and thats only 1 day a year!

Cardiff should host games (and I'm English). Firstly the Millenium Stadium is a top quality venue which will only improve the World Cup and secondly it's a bloody site closer to people in the West Country than any other stadium in England that is even half as good.

For whoever talked about the racism towards Englishmen in Cardiff, that's b***%$*s, the atmosphere is awesome and yes there's some banter, but the Welsh love it when you throw some right back at them and are more than willing to have some drinks with you.

The Milleniun Stadium, the only decent sized stadium on the Western side of the country. I live in Somerset and it is far more convenient for me than, Wembley, Twickenham, St Marys etc. It is easy to get to, less than an hour on the train and the station is right next to the ground. On top of that, it is by far the best rugby stadium in the world.

I was on the Lions touring party in June, and the handling of ticket and ticket prices was appalling. There is a serious threat of football becoming even more popular and rugby dying out in SA.
Please dont make Rugby World Cups all about money and corporate sponsorship, or the British public will suffer.

It's not just the British rugbying public that will suffer because of high ticket prices.
For the 2011 world cup in NZ ticket prices for the knockout stages of the competition will be well and truly out of reach for the average rugby fan.
The IRB is basically made up of the old school tie brigade and really don't care if masses can't afford tickets.

It would make it even better if the BBC got the TV rights. ITV coverage is appalling, even sinking so low as to recruit sky commentators.
It would promote the world cup with a far more professional image.
