wiggins TT vs Schleck Climbing.

do you think wiggins can restrict his losses to andy schleck on the mountains and make up enough in the final time trial? i'm hoping if schleck wants to have any chance of winning he'll have to bust a gut in the time trial which may reduce his ability to take time out of bradley on ventoux. anybody think bradley can get 2nd? (i'm not ignoring all the other contenders. i just see this shoot out between time trialing and climbing will be the exciting end to the tour as i think contador has the victory all but assured)

Just a thought on the BBC story that links here - the first par says Cadel thinks Bradley can win it "this year", but the actual quote as given further down does NOT say "this year".
Has a key bit of the quote dropped off or is someone jumping to conclusions about what Cadel meant?

That's the first thing I noticed.

Typical lazy/sensationalist BBC sports' journalism. doh

Bradley Wiggins is an amazing cyclist whether on the track, where he has won consistently to the road. His performance so far in this years Tour has been quite simply brilliant. To be just behind Contador and Armstrong is proof of a very special talent indeed.Whatever happens on week three he has more than proved he has consistency ,is fast, good in the mountains as well as the flatter stages of this, the toughest cycling event in the world.Surely also the most physically demanding sport there is.Bradley Wiggins should now give up the tracks and concentrate on the Tours,he's won on the track now it's time to move on and prove it at cycling highest level. The Brits have done well this year and we should be proud of them all,Robert Millar has done consistent hard work for his team every day,Mark Cavendish has won four stages and could well win one more this year enen allowing for the poor treatment dished out on Saturday,Charlie Wigelius has riden a good tour also.Bradley if he stays where he is deserves so much credit if he makes the top two that will be absolutely amazing.Whatever he's now joined the Tour elite.

Yes, yes, yes!
This is totally amazing!
Who knows what will happen?
No-one, not the guys turning the pedals, and definitely not me.
Bradley's done some incredible things already.
I believe he can do it.

Don't get carried away guys… Bradley's done fantastically well so far but I doubt he'll do better than 5th to 10th in the GC this year. Give him another 12 months and you know his dedication and preparation will put him in real shape to challenge for the top spot.

My spies tell me that there will be more fatalities between now and Paris.

All from complete and utter, jaw dropping boredom.

What is 2010 going to be like if Sky / UK cycling get it right?

what really surprises me is the media's bias towards Cavendish, because though i am a massive fan of him i still believe Wiggins is the more consistent rider, and YES! He can do it!

Bradley has made us all proud, to be sure, and wherever he rises to or slips back in the GC he should feel proud and encouraged by his ride. As for whether he can win the Tour, maybe not this year, but it's great we're even talking about winning it!
Let's face it, to win the Tour you need a huge amount of confidence and self belief which borders on arrogance. As yet I think Bradley's hanging onto other riders wheels this year. Maybe next year they'll all be trying to hang onto his.
Meanwhile, I wish Bradley a great ride in the time trial and hope that his efforts so far haven't deadened his speed too badly. Whoever (GC contenders) can still put in a strong time trial after all the days of heavy climbs will deserve their podium place. It would be cheeky to think Lance might still do a storming ride hey!
