But will the Spaniard be a success a Toro Rosso?

I wasn't meaning regards the STR decision. I was meaning regards Alguersuari himself, for running his mouth about his predecessor before he gets the chance in the car. Now he's going to look like a loudmouth fool if he can't outperform Bourdais (although with the car having upgrades he does have a chance, and presumably the commentary team will notice his performances and forget about the upgrades, thus sticking another inadvertent knife into Bourdais' career).

Provided they haven't breached the contract and thus avoid having to give Bourdais a big payout, then their decision makes plenty of sense - Alguersuari's decision to start commenting on another driver's motivations and abilities before he's even sat in an F1 car competitively is ill-advised however.

And, besides, just how well is Jaime doing in WSBR this year? He may want to think a bit before opening his mouth in future. It's okay with somebody likely leaving the paddock, but he could make himself a lot of enemies that way.

I wasn't impressed with his comments, but that seems to be the way of it now. Best to keep quiet and get on with the job, but that applies to them all really.

By the time Valencia has passed, 95% of the press won't even remember he's in the field.

even if he doesn't do better than bourdais, STR will have made a good decision since he is basically getting practice for next year.

I'd say he's more one for the next few years, possibly a future talent, the whole putting him in now is purely down to no testing for me.

I think he will have very little impact at all this season, but the experience will do him well for future years. Surely any other year of F1 with testing and SB would have been kept.

Toro Rosso already said they are expecting a steep learning curve for JAime

so he will be expected to have a few accidents whilst trying to find the limit

to achieve better than expected he needs to qualify ahead of Buemi and score points

Er, what exactly did Aguilera (yeah, I know) say about Bourdais?

I hope Jonathan Legard doesn't call him "Jamie Algwersairy" as he did at the European GP and learns that his name is pronounced "Hai-may Al-gair-swaree" instead.

Other than that, I have nothing to say about him, expect tht he sounds like a bit of a handbag-wielding madam for what he said about Bourdais.

Start testing now, if Alguersuari just follows around at the back of the pack Torro Rosso will have lost nothing as that was what Bourdais had been doing.

Where else is a young driver to get seat time and learn the ropes these days.

Just hope he is alert enough to get out of the way when the front runners come up to lap him.
If he inadvertantly interferes with a race result he will be crucified in the media.

By the end of the season he should be on Buemi's pace, then he will be ready for 2010.

--------
If he can be on Buemi's pace, he won't be doing any better than if he's doing what Bourdais was doing - Bourdais had a better average finish than Buemi despite a much worse average grid position. What he needs to do is get close to Buemi in quali then race like Bourdais. Minus the temper tantrums, obviously.

Neither Toro Rosso has done anything BUT potter around at the back since Monaco (and frankly, at Germany, it would seem that the team made more or less a token effort for Bourdais).

How can this possibly work? His name is not Sebastian?
