A cracking performance tonight from the young Welsh boxer,to land the British Light Heavy weight title.

He produced some lovely bodyshots and picked his shots well,i personally see this lad going all the way too the top.

Thoughts please?

On a side note, what are peoples thoughts on the Super Middle super 6 series?

Myself,i see Kessler coming out victorious!!

Didn't think he disregarded his tactics. In the interview, he said he did exactly what he wanted to do against MacIntosh, break his heart. Maybe not the right tactics, but it was the plan.

The Clev is destined for great things.

He can even do his own accountancy as well which means he wont get ripped off like Rocky Balboa did laugh

On a serious note the Clev will be looking at a world title shot in the next 2-3 years. I think he could do big things in the LH division. Personally I think it lacks an aggresive fighter like the Clev but he also has a good boxing brain. The question is can the Clev take on someone like Chad Dawson in a 3 years? I think he can but im Welsh and completley biased

Warren said earlier in the week that he was looking for a world title shot within a year.

By the time time the Clev finishes his maths degree and gets a few more fights under his belt I think this time in about 2 years would be better. Exciting times though for him and us Welsh boxing fans. Me and brother went to both Calzaghe fights and we are hoping the Clev may fight over the pond to give us all a trip again. Bring on Bad Chad I say

Cleverly, wow that fight was amazing and exciting. i didn't belive in all this hype about this nathan boy till yesterday performance i tihnk he is going to be a great world champion one day.

The thing was is he is clever even though yesterday he got into a brawl when he shouldn't have but, he didn't stick his chin out and didnt leave himself open so danny could hit him, so this boy still boxes clever.

Although mckintosh did box poorly if he kept a tighter guard and jabbed more maybe this would of been more of an test for cleverly.

also i think mckintosh is like cleverly they are both gaining in power as they take on more matches.

overall well done too nathan he is a terrific boxer and hope for the best with him and his future. (why can't people be this kind to amir khan)

i was very impressed with cleverly last night. from the 1st round onwards though it was clear who the better man was. mc did wind me up a treat with his posing, faces etc but he made a very gallant loser and said some great things post fight.

like all ingle fighters he looks the real deal winding himself up but fights like all ingle fighters - questionable defence, hands down etc etc

Very impressed with cleverly. He went in and knew he was going to go toe to toe. He decided to do that rather than use his superior boxing skills which may be questionable, but shows lots of guts. He landed some huge body shots which hurt him and wore him down. He did punch himself out a bit but showed good skills to settle down, change his game plan a bit and pick him of. I think he'll be world champ within two years and with his frame, could go up to cruiser in couple of years.

As for froch and the super 6. Again froch has irritated me hugely with his comments about calzaghe. Why can't he just let it go? Froch is a good fighter and i wish him well, but i'd like to see him shut up about comparisons, who's better and concentate on himself, becasue i think he's gonna struggle in 6.

I think kessler will win it and think jermain will have learned from last fight and also beat froch. Either way, think it'll be a good watch

I think that the time for comparison comes in the fullness of time at the end of your career. Carl Froch needs to concentrate on his own destiny rather than trying to feed off of Joe Calzaghe's record.
Nathan Cleverly will be managed well and deliver a world title of that there is no doubt.

Here is an article I wrote before the fight:

Some famous names coming from Blackwood (Caerphilly), include the influential rock band Manic Street Preachers, 80s rock singer Steve Strange, International Opera singer Dame Margaret Price and rugby players Alun Pask and Alun Lewis. However, there is another name that could eclipse them all!

Although not a household name at the moment Nathan Cleverly (22) is the next Welsh sporting sensation primed to take the boxing world by storm. Rated six in the WBO ratings he is about to explode onto the World Boxing scene.

He is the current red-hot favourite to beat the unbeaten Danny McIntosh (29) on Saturday 18 July 2009 at The York Hall, Bethnall Green, London to add the British light heavyweight title to his Commonwealth title. Only carelessness can hinder him as he looks beyond Britain for his next fight as he looks a class above his opponent.

The student has caught the eye since turning professional, and was nominated for the prestigious Boxing Writers’ Young Boxer of the Year award in both 2007 and 2008 but it is the work he has done since that has been of greater consequence.

His father Vince, with great help from Alan Davies has now taken over his training and preparation. Under his astute stewardship they look the real deal! The one to one training is reaping huge dividends.

Improvement and momentum is gathering at such a speed it looks inevitable that a World Title shot will be set up within the next 18 months. With only ageing Americans blocking his path it is not impossible that Nathan could be World Champion within the next two years!

I have been fortunate to witness part of his training for this forthcoming fight over the past couple of weeks. Nothing has been left to chance with all eventualities covered. He is in absolute prime condition mentally and physically.

I was tremendously impressed with the maturity, confidence, fitness and determination seldom seen in one so young. A remarkable achievement when you take on board that his voyage to this point in his career has been far removed from the stereotypical boxer.

This man is articulate, assured and grounded. A man on track to graduate from Cardiff University next year with a Maths Degree at the age of 23. Clearly this family has covered all bases and it is because of this they have a clear focus of the job in hand.

South Wales sport is already on a high after the massive successes of Ffos Las, near Llanelli (the first new turf horseracing course in Britain for 81 years) and the successful staging of the first Test in the Ashes series at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.

The area always been synonymous with producing great individual sportsmen though the region has been a little quiet of late. I fully expect the name of Nathan Cleverly to reverberate across South Wales come Sunday morning as the public acknowledges their new sporting hero!

I was particularly pleased with the way that Nathan rushed and suprised McIntosh early on before going back to range. His lefts to the body and rights behind the ear were exquisite.

I hope he nows get the acknowledgement he and his father deserve as I was very disappointed with the local coverage. They seem to be more interested in one who is going than the one who is clearly on the up.

LOL @ Danny McIntosh - what was all that showboating about - surley you have to be decent to showboat. I remeber when Naz shoatboated against Barrera and got owned - that was embarrassing but atleast he didnt get knocked out - McIntosh was showboating and got spanked even when he was on his back he was shoatboating - maybe he's be better off in a circus ring rather than a boxing ring - hope I never have to witness McIntosh boxing again - Cleverly though....cant wait !!
