i totally agree one ball, many golfers used to/still play in ireland before hand and miss out loch lomand,, they should be more links events- i think the main reason is weather and the packed scedule on the euro /US tours during the summer

More Links events. I agree. Even courses under 7K yards. Who cares if -20 wins. Bring it on!

Interesting pairing tomorrow:

Watson, Goggin (sentimental favourite and the unknown)
Fisher, Westwood (two regional favourites)
Furyk, Goosen (both gritty and methodical)

mr rosskoo its immaterial what you think , your wrong- your other point is correct though- they do have a menatal probelm with playing the correct shot- but that is because they are not used to playing the correct shot- therefore have less confidence.. mental or technical - its immaterial- these guys just dont play enough links golf..

the brit am game plays loads on the links courses, but once into the pro scene after a few years they admit to getting out of the mind set.., some of the yanks have never ever played these sort of courses before- it was a great storry about that yank in the top group with watson(one players first links experience and one with 5 wins- lol-) of course hes lack of experience failed him, whereas if he and watson were at auguta i know who my money would be on

Watson was signed up to join ABC television commentators for days 3 and 4. He was supposed to be commenting on Tiger. Now can we get Tiger in the commentary box to talk about Watson?

<<sadly mr rosko its our open championship that levels the playing field- this would never happen at the masters or a us open or us pga- because players are used to the courses..>>

Modern young golfers are fair weather players. Methodical manufactured swings that are unable to adapt to changeable conditions.
They must learn to tough it out.

What is undoubtedly in Tom's favour is the course - he loves it & knows every bounce.

He's the man to beat alright cos there probably won't be much under 66 if it's windy.

Outside of Watson, Goosen has won majors and Ross Fisher has got 'something'.. think he'll win a big one if not tomorrow.

Westwood if he holes putts can do it, he has the long game, chipping has never been his strong point.

Goggin has a tough ask playing with a living British Open legend, don't know too much about him.

Marino coped OK but he has a 'US Tour' game - always driver & high fades.

I suppose Watson's strategy would be to play cautiously and calmly while others fall off the leaderboard.

It will be interesting how he will handle the pressure if somebody below starts a spirited charge and succeeds early.

If Watson falters, I like the chances of Furyk, Goosen, Fisher, and Cink.

Nobody is even mentioning the name Goggin. Frankly, I never heard of him until this week.

If weather gets ugly, players like Vijay, currently at +2 are not without a chance of winning.

Another 15 minutes or so.

It's all happening now.
