hi everyone i just wanted to say that this series has shown just how poor bangladesh are playin against a 3/4 string team from the westindies. and bad thing is that the westindies have competed against them really well. if you think im being sarcastic about just how bad this westindies side is go cricinfo and look at the stats of the players playin they are quite frankly rubbish and old. there just a poor side

Very true. Some 30-35 top players from West indies have pulled out and still Bangladesh are struggling.

This WI batting lineup is a fourth-string side at best....

However, there are some decent bowlers in that team. We could be in for an interesting finish.

We have a more active discussion of this match here:

Well I would have to agree with the part that it is not the best team of West Indies who have a prestigious history of excellent players. However, i would respectfully disagree that Bangladesh team is struggling against this 2nd graded International Team that West Indies formed. Bangladesh have been coming to close ends for some last 2 years with lots of big teams like New Zealand and South Africa...and Bangladesh also had a very good fight against the 1st graded WI team in their last WI tour.
If you really look closely at the current Bangladesh team, you would be surprised to observe the ages of most of the players. The eldest being 25 years old, and some youngest at age 19. It is a team in transition at this point of time, preparing for coming World Cup. I feel it won't be wise to take off credits from this site just because WI couldn't form a 1st graded team for their internal problem. I'm excited that Bangladesh team is actually learning the finishing touches of highly competitive test matches.

How about taking into consideration that Bangladesh had lost almost 3/4 th of their team less than a year ago through a player coup against the board to ICL? And those who left for ICL, are still out of the squad? Bangladesh then had to put together a second string team just like WI, capped almost 17 players in a series and still were putting fights against the opponents.

WI should have the depth in their pool of players - for being a test playing nation for so long. It is much harder for Bangladesh, when they lose their top ranked players, to come up with equivalent replacements.

Bottom line is, you have the 14 man main squad, then you have another 30-40 man in your pool who are identified as talented, but waiting for combination and opportunity. And you should be able to come up with an alternative team using the pools. Now you may call it whatever, 2nd string...10 string - yet that is your second best you could produce. Just like Bangladesh came up with their 2nd string team (i guess I can call this squad the 2nd string) after the ICL incident less than a year ago.

How about this now?

In regards to what crymeasea said, which is in fact true, this means that the 2nd String Bangladesh team is far greater than the 2nd string West Indian team. And also, judging by how quick this Bangladesh team is ever-so-improving and pushing and often defeating the bigger teams in very recent times, this team will give every other team from the West a run for their money, I'd leave the Asian teams out since they all play the same game pretty much and can figure each other out quite easily.

Say, come to think of it, the Bangladesh team needs decent fast bowlers, they do have 1 but need a couple more, however, they have pushed every other team to the edge by using spinners.....which even a great team such as australia don't have anymore. What a shame! A great team as that can win the first Ashes with their oh so great players and lose the second so cheaply. Did the retirement of some players really make that team so weak that they lose to a weak English team (as the Aussies like to think of the better England team)?

Who is the better team now?

You guys are missing the point....

This isn't even a second or third string WI side. This is a fourth-string side, at best. I can come up with a hundred Caribbean batsmen with more first-class experience than Omar Phillips and Chadwick Walton, who both played in the Test series....
