Saints Shambles

Super League St Helens

We might be the best team in Super League but tonight's game just shows how shallow and limited is the general intelligence. I think Paul Wellens is great but anyone knows he isn't a goal kicker. He would have put his hand up in the dressing room to kick the goals in the absence of Long and Eastmond. He has so much respect that the coaching staff went along with this. Sorry,Mr Potter, but you have got to learn to "think on your feet".It was obvious to all that Paul, actually, had no confidence in his goal kicking. Gidley,Roby, anybody should have been given a chance at goal. If this had happened Saints would have scrambled a win on an offnight - just as Wakefield did. Don't be so wooden,Mr Potter - only if you are more pro-active will Saints 2009 produce results.

Jason get real. Saints lost just take it like a man. We outplayed Leeds and got nothing. We may not have played as well last night but the fact is we won.

I would say Wakefield deserved the game because they had the sheer confidence to go to saints where nobody expected them to even be in with a shout of winning nevermind taking the 2 points, if theres a club that deserve a bit of luck it's Wakefield..

Jason

I take it you actually didn't go tot he game because the final whistle was way past your bedtime. Saints pressurised Wakefield for much of the game - true, however, a true test of a teams guile is to be able todefend for lengthy periods against class teams and keep them from scoring, Wakefield did this brilliantly, forcing errors and putting in 100% in the tackle. The fact that Atkins scored a breakaway try is from a mistake by Saints caused by Wakefields tenacious defending deep in their own half.

Ok Whellens couldn't have kicked a barn door in a pair of clown shoes which did eventually cost Saints the match but please pay some credit to a mid table team who came along to the mighty Saints (and there is no sarcasm in that statement) and actually took the game to them and never gave in.

Even the majority of Saints fans agree with the above comments.

"We might be the best team in Super League"

best 17 in super league yes, but after that saints are nothing special, where as you look at a team like leeds, if a few key players are missing, they can bring in a few good people not just some okay youngsters and that kinda showed the other night, wakefield deserved to win to be honest as well, you got a lot of shocking decisions.

wakefield deserved to win - end of
everyone knows it
saints are a top team and are described as the best attacking side in super league so for wakey to defend there own line for practicaly all of the last 10 minutes was outstanding and a credit to how hard they have been working.
Well done matty blaymire as well he had a great game and handled everything thrown at him brilliantly
blaymire for England!! smiley

Hahaha! . . This is absolutely typical! . . St Helens is a world class club with World Class Players! smiley

Wellens is probably one of the best full backs in the league no doubt about it. He is the third choice kicker at St Helens and was undoubtedly going to miss kicks on Friday night.

The team new this, they new they were going to have to out score Wakefield with tries, because they have a top class kicker in Brough. They failed, and credit has to go to Wakefield. Hopefully though Saints will get over all their injuries by late August and go on a run to the Play Offs and onto the Grand Final.
