Who will be Champion Golfer of the year?

The Open

It is the day before the greatest tournament of the year.
The weather is predicted to be variable, Friday being a bad day - you may not see Ailsa Craig all day.
So we have had all of the build-up, a bit of a Scottish squabble, withdrawals and lucky entrants.

SO WHO DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO FINISH TOP 3???

For me it is going to be

1/Thomas Levet
2/Graeme McDowell
3/Kenny Perry

The way Levet has qualified beggars belief - at the qualifying he finished seven shots off the pace and was then disqualified for signing for the wrong score.

Levet did not even know he was sixth reserve, but last week saw four withdrawals from the championship - Phil Mickelson, Trevor Immelman, Robert Karlsson and Tim Wilkinson - and that made Levet first reserve. Then Quigley decides to stay in the States.

Levet has previous Open form and a victory this year.
"That’s cool - and I think I’ve got a chance," he commented after being told that he was in the field for Turnberry.
"I’m playing well and I hit the ball low, which you need to do at the British."

Bonne chance Thomas, destiny has handed you this opportunity and at 150/1 I am right there with you.

and I know exactly who is going to win.

I visited a pyschic the other day and she looked into the crystal ball... messed about a bit... used those card things... went into a trance to consult the spirits.... and when she was done she told me that the person who will win this year was without a doubt.... 100% sure... unquestionably...

The bloke who shoots the lowest number.

Can we stop the idle speculation now that we all know that now?

You are about as much fun as a barrel full of Montys.

I did not ask you who you think will win, I asked for opinions on who folk think will finish in the top 3.

Idle speculation is good - visiting a psychic (or a pyschic) is bad.

Why shouldn't a mad Frenchman win our Open. There have been some strange winners this past decade (Curtis and Hamilton) and Thomas himself lost in a play off to Big Ernie. One more putt holed and he would have been there.

My instincts tell me there will be a comedy winner this year. They don't come much dafter than Levet.

Nah, I vote we just keep going with the idle speculation....

Casey to pip Tiger after a mammoth Sunday birdiefest which will go down in history as The Duel in the Slightly Overcast Conditions.

And in a remarkable repeat of history Hubert Green will finish third, thirteen shots back.

Actually Cougar you post states who will be the champion golfer for the year. In your description you state that you want to know about the top 3.

This is ambiguity and is something to avoid in anything either written or spoken.

Avoid it and be clear in your posts.

Additionally. Don't flame people purely because you have posted something which already has several threads dedicated to it. Try reading the previous items posted and keeping things sensible rather than insulting people for being bored of the pathetic nonsense that sometimes crops up on here.

Wow - you really are wound up aren't you?

Why do you bother to post if you are so bored of it - just stroll on.

I am so sorry if you think I 'flamed' you - that was not my intention. I am so sorry if you found my ramblings to be ambiguous - I will try to be clearer in future. I am so sorry if you read 'several threads dedicated to this topic' already. Personally I had not seen much on this topic.

Now as this is a free sports forum, who do you think will finish top 3 in the Open Championship this week?

Cougar... Not wound up. I just don't take kindly to comments such as those you made.

No worries though... All good!

I backed Levet on the final day of the Victor Chandler British Masters about 7 years ago. He was in third at the start of the day and won a 3 or 4 man play off. I was there at wentworth on a freebie. So I always watch him so the way he got in I might have to add him to my list.
