Sarries Captaincy

Premiership Saracens

Just saw on BBC sport that Steve Borthwick has been confirmed as captain for the 2009/2010 season, with Wikus van Heerdan as vice captain. Are fellow Sarries fans pleased with these two appointments, or would they have preferred sum1 else? Personally, I think Wikus should be made captain, he was our best player in the 2nd part of the season, with excellent rucking, tackling and yard making, an inspiration to fellow players, and with his light bulb scrum cap is instantly recognizable. Another advantage is that there would be international call up for him. Don't get me wrong, Borthwick is a great player, but hes not a great captain as some pretty woeful performances against the Southern Hemisphere showed him up a bit

What do you think?

a good player and obviosuly shows something in training and around the players that makes him a 'leader' according to the coaches. Im still no convinced of this when he captianed Bath.

Though I can't see it myself there are so many people with senior experience and far greater knowledge than I who see it that I'm afraid it must be true. His various coaches at club and international level all obviously think highly of him as a captain and player. I don't beleive they can all be wrong just because I don't get it!

Probably a good captain, I'm hardly in a position to judge, but he's by no means a top quality player.

I'm very surprised London South Africa (oops, I mean Saracens) made Borthwick captain. He's not a saffer, after all. OR perhaps he has a saffer granny in the closet. Lekker soos 'n krekker... !

Borthwick is a terrible player and an average captain
In fact i'm also fairly certain that a solitary cabbage is a more effective rugby player in the loose!
Must go before i become so filled with rage!
