Stoner diagnosed..........

Casey has been diagnosed with slight gastritis and mild anaemia so hopefully he can now start taking the medication, get himself well and crack on with the title chase.

Should be a cracker for the rest of the season if he can keep up with the Fiat boys for a full race.

My money is still on the championship going to the Fiat garage (probably Rossi) but who knows.

Good to know he'll shortly be fit again and hopefully a race win soon to shake things up a bit.

I 3rd Jets proposal. By the way, anyone remember the circumstances of Capirossi leaving Ducati?
___________

Regrettably, it was another Tevez situation I am ashamed to say, Ducati kept him in limbo without offering him a new contract and didnt tell him they were lining up someone else for the job (Melandri?) he caught wind of it and accused them of disrespecting him and not showing him any loyalty, so he got vexed and left.

Im glad you guys are finally listening to my plea for him to return, but I dont think it will happen, I read in MCN he does not plan to retire this year and Denning wants to keep him, what with Vermulen not producing the goods anymore, he is the only other proven rider to tame that beast of a bike unfortunately.

His team boss said "He will continue to fight like a lion".

He forgot to say he'll also continue to moan like an Aussie...

I'm not totally convinced with the 'diagnosis' to be honest. Gastritis and anaemia may well be the symptoms, and should be treatable.

However, the cause of gastritis.. bacterial? prolonged use NSAIDs? Stress? combination of all 3? Anaemia, usually diet related but could be a symptom of something else.

Guess what I'm trying to say is, temporary treatment for the symptoms will not compensate for cause, be it the wrong kind of diet or psychological difficulties or something else entirely - I don't think we've heard the last of the mystery illness.

PS I'm no doctor

Interesting comments Pixel.

You'd have to think that his diet wouldn't be a problem given that these guys are athletes, so that'd bring it back to psychological stuff.

As you say, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we haven't heard the last of it.

Magic box rafa of all the incredibly stupid things posted on here I think yours takes my award, any simpleton knows a blood test takes 3 weeks for a normal English citizen, given what Casey Stoner's stature is, probably much quicker so dont come out with nit picks like that, as you should know how a long a blood test takes before suggesting that someone is unqualified just for suggesting the obvious

These can be symptoms of Iron deficiency which usually creeps up over some time. Heamoglobin levels can be done in a few seconds.
Full blud count with in 20min. Testing for antibodes and bacteria depending what cultures are required up to 7 days. Treatment may take up to 3 months if the Fe protein is extremely low & needs to be checked.
Fatigue, weakness & fainting not uncommon. Yogurt with live cultures over a week would help with the bowel problem.
Casey has done extremely well considering but as others have indicated a historical investigation needs to be carried out.
cool

I don't buy it. Mild anemia and slight gastritis. They are hardly bloody serious illnssses. Two weeks ago Jorge almost won with a broken collar bone. Casey used the fact that he is in need of a steak and has a sore belly as yet ANOTHER excuse. He doesn't have the best bike and tyres anymore. Now that tyres and bikes are more or less equal and competitive he is not able to jump off and win by a mile. He is not as talented as rossi and jorge and rather than just admit that he is sick with mild illnesses that most people have at some stage in their life. He's a one hit wonder, I would doubt very much that he will ever win a chamionship again.
