Blackstock prepared for QPR stay

comment on the article

QPR striker Dexter Blackstock says he is happy to remain at the club next season.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

He was QPR's top scorer last season, despite ending the campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest - against former manager Paulo Sousa's wishes.

Forest had hoped to make his signing permanent this summer but have recruited strikers Dele Adebola and David McGoldrick.

Do you think he can become an integral part of Jim Magilton's R's?

Dex scores goals that’s what you want from a striker but i still think we need someone better, dex frustrates me also he seems so lazy and doesn't work for the team only for himself he doesn't make runs to open up the field for the midfielders coming through and the first part of last season when he was scoring goals was only because he was getting 5/6 good chances a game i think we need to sign someone better who is going to stick more of good chances away same HH he isn't the goal scorer he once was look at wolves away last season HH in his prime would've had no difficulties scoring that chance.

This worries me. If Blackstock stays will our search for a striker come to end? Unlike Magilton I have had the dubious pleasure of watching him for the last 3 seasons and can safely say that he is already playing above his level. He always comes across as a really nice young lad but he must be measured as a footballer rather than a friend I'm afraid and on that front he is:
-not strong enough
-poor in the air
-fluffs way too many 1-on-1 chances.

If Dexter can recapture his form pre the sad death of Ray Jones, then he could have a great season. He was very badly affected by that loss(who wouldn't be).Remember his goal of the season v Preston? With some decent service and some confidence-he can do it.

I'm afraid I'm the pessimist on this one.
I believe that Dex is seeing this as a win-win for HIM!
Play well may get a new contract or will become a free agent at the end of his contract and sign a super deal (hope he manages that one!).
Alternatively, play average and get snapped up by someone on an reasonably good contract as a free agent.
Either way.. nice deal for Dex, whether he works hard or not!!

Regardless of Blackstocks ability, if sousa was right in suggesting he had no say in his loan to forest, why would 1) Dex want to stay? and 2) that flav will want him to?

good squad player, but not strong or quick enough to really frighten defenders. We cant rely on Blackstok getting a perfect cross onto his head,everytime..a striker needs to do more!

"Unless that changes or anything happens in the meantime I'll be a QPR player for next season."

Says it all really. He's got one eye on the door. He's a league one player at best.
