Benjamin Clarkson (U640037) posted Jul 15, 2009 As I'm sure every Blades fan knows, Beattie can score penalties! He's got to be worth a ticket to South Africa just for that! Hopefully somebody can give the actual figures but I'm sure most of the goals Beattie scored for the Blades were from set pieces.

Saltergate_Blues (U7773250) posted Jul 16, 2009 I genuinely can't understand how players like Heskey, Crouch, Carlton Cole and Beattie are preferred over Kevin Davies. Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney would have a field-day working off him and, although I don't think Beckham offers much, it gives him someone to aim at in the area who can actually score headers (unlike Heskey, who spends most of the match rolling around the penalty area, and Crouch, who always performs his best impersonation of a mannequin being hurled out of a high-spped train).

Saltergate_Blues (U7773250) posted Jul 16, 2009 I dont necessarily rate Carvalho, but he plays regualrly at the heart of a solid defence of a title-challenging team, and is a member of an international squad that should be competing for the World Cup.
