Todays rugby league express says giants are about to land saints star Lee Gilmour who is out of contract at the end of the season..
Should be a good signing for the giants... Fa'alogo and Gilmour next seasons second row.
Sounds good to me!

Been hearing the Gilmour rumour all weekend. Not sure I want scully next season. Jacko is the best value for money we have no doubt - straightforward player who does not play fancy but gets a job done. Word from an excellent source is that Brown plans to move robbo to 9 next season sounds like a good move he would make some excellent runs from dummy-half. Not sure if I want Broutgh either on his day his game is superb but far too inconsistent which you definitely cannot say about robbo.

he'll be a loss for sure but it's not like he's playing in the pack this year and so I think we'll cope, we've just signed a new centre/2nd rower/prop so i guess the writting was on the wall and he's doing whats best for him, good luck to him he's been a fab player. I think this year is all about dripping in the newer players slowly and actually I'm rather surprised how well we've done so far given that we were on a downer from the last game of the season and a new coach has come in.

But hey I'm not complaining it's good to see that we can drip the younger players in slowly and still maintain a presense near the top.

Same rumour going round a few weeks ago with KR. Morgan sounded out Saints about Wilkin but where offered Gilmour. He has been in talks with Hugell and Morgan.............Apparently.

Saints would never let Wilkin go he's at the start of his career and an ever-present - too valuable. Gilmour has been a great servant for Saints and finally showed his true potential with us. He's 30+ now so he will be offloaded sooner or later. Still fast and a good gamebreaker, will be sad to see him go but he does seem to pick up the knocks quite regularly lately.

i think moving robo into hooker is a bad move... what happenes to fiumu and lunt! robob and brought half backs would be perfect.. they can both through the ball around and both tackle.

Lee Gilmour is an outstanding professional and will definitely improve the playing staff considerably down at the Huddersfield Giants. At Knowsley Road, he is someone who has experienced success at every stage of his career and he is a winner, someone who is used to being on the right end in big matches. 31 years of age, he still has a considerable number of years with which he is going to be able to cut it at the top level.

I look forward to seeing how he progresses at the Galpharm. He will be playing in an emerging side which is full of youthful and exciting promise. With the leadership of Gilmour coming into the fray, he will feel he has a point to prove to the Saints. Wanting a longer contract extension as a way of reassurance about his future plans, he quickly realised that his former club were not going to budge on their contract offer.

The one gripe that Gilmour can have on what has been a fantastic career though is his severe lack of international caps for Great Britian. But, if he can win silverware at a club that is not steeped in rich tradition and history, he will feel his move is justified. Good luck Lee Gilmour, now is the time for you to really step out of the shadow, and shine.

Maga I agree totally with your comments. Always admired Gilmour as a player. Remember in partiqular the day he had his nose smashed all over his face by Jamahal Lolesi last year. Stayed on and had a great game. He is a winner as shown by his pedigree and medals collected with the Bulls and Saints. All in all a very good signing.

Giants4Wembley, couldnt agree more about Aspy and Hodgy...while ever i have a hole in my arse aspy will never make the transition to a forward and he is being kept off the wing because his form is just not there and we have other good options to call on. Hodgy has lost a yard of pace and makes bad choices at key moments (its not very clever being caught by a second rower while in clear open space) however he scores on a regular basis thanks at least in part to the service he is getting, and if you check his stats, you simply cant deny they are impressive:-

As long as he continues to produce the goods he is going to get picked .
Going back to the subject mater Gilmour is a quality player, a gamebreaker and used to being in winning sides. I thought the Giants were past signing big name players at the end of their career, although i accept that to achieve success you do need a mix of youth and experience. This Giants side has been in the building process for the last four of five years and are now capable of challenging the top teams in SL, whatever my reservations might be, i hope this signing is another piece in the jigsaw that will finally deliver a trophy in the modern era to add to all those won in the glory years of a different era.
