Australia's best not good enough?

This must be the first time an Australian side has not won the opening test for a while, does anyone know?

Anyway, the point is that England had a 'mare and Australia played out of their skins, and yet it was still a draw.

Can the Aussies pick themselves up or is the psychological hurdle they now have to leap simply too high?

Is the momentum now with the home team, as they head to Lord's? I'd say it is, although I can't bring myself to celebrate a draw against this Australian team - still gutted we didn't win.

marinerone

with you obvious deep knowledge of australians and their psychology...

...please answer your own question.

What Aussie would not use any means, fair or foul, sporting or not to be a winner?

Be specific.

You've just tarred the whole of australia as a bunch of cheats, be nice if you could qualify your statement.

Or are you just, a little too full of p*s* and wind, and a little too lacking in harder substance to provide something concrete?

All the best

Isnt it the australians that have a single word for all the British?

What word would that be Kingkev?

There are many used by Australians when speaking of the British.

More so because "the British" to address your words incompasses sevearl different countries.

Which begs the question, what exactly are you trying to say? Think deep for the answer. winkeye

But you are far off the point under debate anyway, which seems to be a particular trait on these threads when someone has no countering argument. lol.

Also a trait is trying to counter an argument with an accusation that can be universally applied to any nation or team.

Roll on tomorrow morning.

Roastedtoe, you seem to be a very defensive!

Pom is the word im talking about (a word that someone is yet to explain it to me).

Its just a tad hypocritical when you talk about someone defining a whole nation and when ask them to back up their claims, when your "many words" that you use do precisely the same to another nation.

And no countering arguement to what? Your squabbling with marinerone?

Britain is a nation in itself, made up of four countries, but a country none the less.

This is the problem KingKev...you are levelling a charge at me under the title of hypocrisy that every nation is guilty of, including your own, but which you have no evidence of me being guilty of personally. lol.

It's a pointless attack. It can be applied to everyone, you gain no ground with it.

It's the pot calling the kettle black...to use a tired cliche (well, this is about sport ultimately, tired cliches are compulsory).

But effectively labelling a whole nation cheats is more specific and why I asked the earnest gentlemen to back up his accusations.

(Although to be honest I have used the word "pom" on here before, as a rule after a pom has decided it was clever to refer to Australians as "convicts". lol)

If I appear defensive it's the fact you can't see my grin...it's broad when shooting fish in barrels.

A fine past time when slowly working through the morning coffee, before more challenging things are attempted...

As really, this thread is beaten to death, but thought I'd throw one more post on it so you knew I cared about your considered opinions.

(now don't be churlish and say you don't care)

And now, hurrah, the next game is about to begin and we can all get ranting about new controversies. All this gnashing of teeth already gives today at 11am so much more meaning.

Marvellous. smiley

Good luck.

So, how do we expect the Aussies to cheat today? Running on the pitch?
Claiming grassed catches?
The keeper knocking the bails off with his gloves and then claiming the batsman was bowled?
Not walking after a big edge?
Chucking?

Can't wait to find out!

I just checked, I dont seem to have any bullet holes in me at all!

Clearly you are one of these people who feel the need to boost your ego by always having the last word.

Im tired of this arguement, so we shall move forward amicably.

Looks like I was rught about which team had the momentum heading into this test. The Aussies appear to be really struggling to pick themselves up following their missed opportunity in Wales.
