Toby Sandeman

comment on the article

This guy is a good friend of mine and is running in the trials today. He won the uk under 23 championships in the 200m and I think he will go on to big things. Good luck Tobes hope you get the wind in your sails.

With his 20.72 pb set this year, he has a good chance to make the final

Did anyone else think that his interview sounded like exactly what an American sprinter would say, just with an English accent?

If you mean that he sounded like he knew what he was trying to do out there then yes - just like an american sprinter. Would be nice to see him get the entry standard now and get taken to berlin - he's surely got it in him as the conditions didn't look that great - although I'll probably look the time up now and find he ran with a 4 metre tailwind!

Is it even worth taking him to Berlin?

We're always saying we need to look after our juniors and what with Toby racing in the u23s (3 rounds + 2 rounds in the relay).
Is it a lot to ask?

For experience, it would be amazing for him. But is it worth it in the long run?

Say Toby goes, and doesn't meet expectations, then the media and and public start saying 'The next MLF'

I'd hate to see that after the SUPERB year he's having.

Well I was right he did make the final! Anyway it's funny how nobody else even noticed this link until after he won

If he gets the time he should go to the worlds if the schedule is not to close. As for MLF I remember him skipping the worlds to concentrate on some junior event.

Anyway fantastic win today ,he definitely had the wind in his sails.

Enter Sandeman!

Well what can I say my boy came good! There is no doubt that this guy needs to be on the plane to Berlin , based on current form he is only gonna get better. His time today was a life time best so there is no reason why he should not make the team for Berlin. He can handle the pressure as we saw so I wouldn't worry too much about the press hyping him up. I'm extremely proud and like I said watch out for this kid cos he's gonna make people sit up and take notice.

Good call A-man! I like the look of him. Fast and has a winning attitude. Let's see how he does.
