thats why i love this sport

Super League Wakefield
comment on the article

Just got back from the Wakefield game and I’m obviously gutted. Why didn’t we take the two???!!

But despite the desperate feeling I cant help thinking it nights like tonight that remind me why I go to watch this game. Amazing drama, controversy, passion, skill, and an atmosphere that nothing else compares to.

For 80 minutes nothing else mattered, the wretched week I’ve had at work had gone, all that mattered was what was happening on the pitch.

Amazing that’s why I love this game!

Leeds won because they picked up the intensity of the game in the last 12 mins or so...so the have to be congratulated for that..they recognised we were virtually out on our feet / given everything.

Having said that and being gutted at the result, I cannot say how much enjoyed the game and how immensely proud of all the Wakey team I am. Felt that at the final whistle, still feel that now.

We were the better team up to c 68 mins but the rest is history.

Despite how much stick Senior gets I thought he out shone Ryan Atkins by a mile…is his move to the Rhinos on, I thought they were going to swap shirts at the end !!!!

Patchy performance against Harlequins, better but unlucky against the Giants, magnificent against the Rhinos yesterday.

Still believe we can make the top 8 if we can maintain the momentum….hope for another entertaining game against the Saints next Fri.

PROUD of the whole team. I really didn't think we could raise our game to this level especially after our last two performances BUT WE DID! Credit must go to JK for preparing and motivating the lads to what was so nearly a memorable victory. I have no complaint with not taking the two points on offer. At that stage they still needed to score twice whatever.
And yes we proved we can play a bit of footy. We moved it wide on several occasions and Danny's kicking was sensational. Also our error count against clearly one of the top two sides in the league was extremely low in a game which was played at such a high tempo.
Never mind the result. It was a great night to be a trin fan and indeed the sport. Now lets take it to those Saints!

Eandksdad, the point i was making was how once again they moaned for 80 minutes, that is not y they won this game, it was just a general comment about the whinos. Having said that in the cold light of day I do think the desire Leeds showed in the last 10 was incredible, If Wakey do play like they did for the rest of the season a playoff place should be gained.

wakefield were so unlucky. If i wasnt a Leeds fan i would have felt so sorry for them. However, i was too busy jumping around! We didnt deserve the win and have to stop giving stupid penalties away. If Wakefield play like that every week, not only will they be in the playoffs but will be very dangerous indeed!

I agree Wakey played outstanding and bossed the game for long periods. Danny Broughs kicking game was again exceptional and Sam Obst played his socks off. Leeds in contrast defended well for long periods but gave away stupid penalties ( as they did at Hull Fc the week before) and were lucky to be only 16-10 down at half time. Second half Wakey again played Leeds the park, and at 1 point i thought they were going to put upwards of 40 points on the scoreboard. Credit to Leeds though, they played to the final whistle and actually looked the better team with only 12 players on the pitch. A cracking advert for the sport ( despite some dodgey refereeing and lots of whinging from both sets of players) and probably a fantastic game to watch for the neutral. Well done Wakey a marvellous performance, and a spirited fianl 12 mins from Leeds to salvage the win.

I thought this was the best we have played since we came into super league, all the team played fantastic, even Grix, but to me the outstanding players were.Korkidas, snitch, and peterson, the improvement in Korkidas and peterson was amazing, keep it up lads, and i am sure we can win four or five of the remaining games.

Fluffing try scoring opportunities means Peterson had a good game? Snitch, Korki and Brough were outstanding.
