How often do you change grips?

I play about 3/4 times a week and i find that i am changing grips much more frequently than i do when i play tennis (which i play about the same amount of time. I find that my game really deteriorates when the grip loses its stickiness - much more so than with tennis. I doubt the amount of sweat affects it as they are pretty similar for both sports.

I was just wondering how often others change their grips and whether you think the squash playing style and the way the racket is held affects grip deterioration.

You will sweat much more in squash if you're playing it hard enough. Tennis has lots of breaks.

Your tennis grip will be large as well, so this tends to help.

I use overgrips for squash. I buy them in bulk (60 at a time) and change before every league match. When no matches, usually every 2 weeks (playing 2-3 times per week).

It's just whenever I feel I need to change. But then I am not paying £3 a grip, I am paying 30p, so I don't care if I change every game I play.

As often as possible in all honesty. Grip is key.

I agree with BLE that you'll sweat much more at squash. There tend to be more rallies at squash and it's not often that you're playing in a cooling breeze, this time of year it's more like a sauna.
I use tournagrip overgrips and find them the best, I probably change them on a simlilar ratio to BLE, ensuring that I put on a fresh grip for a league match or daily at competitions. One of the advantages of tournagrip is that you can wash them out and re-use but I'd only advise that for friendly play.
What can help also is wearing the towelling head and wrist bands as it can be surprising how much moisture these soak up. Especially good if you're into a retro look.
Enjoy your squash.
