Dockfive (U14069239) posted Jul 14, 2009 Jurgen Grobler and and the ill fated flagship crew of Hodge and Reed are destined for more pain and disappointment!! More intense training prior to the World Champs will hurt enough, but that will be nothing compared to confidence sapping reality of taking on the long stroking and fast Kiwi pair of Bond and Murray yet again. After the Poznan showdown, it will be 5 nil to the Kiwis. Then there is the daunting challenge of dealing with the all conquering soul destroying Aussie pair of Ginn and Free in the leadup to the 2012 Olympiad. Best leave the matter of the pairs to the fast stroke efficient crews from down under, and Jurgen can put H & R back into the four, where the boys are competitive....just like he did with Pinsent & Cracknell, prior to Athens. Smart lad, that Jurgen......

kwikscull (U6698848) posted Jul 14, 2009 Dockfive, you may well be right about the GB 2- at the Worlds being behind the NZ pair, however I would be prepared to bet the Kiwi's won't win the 2- in 2012. In 2005 the Kiwi's won 5 golds in row at the Worlds, all in Olympic events, how many golds did they get at Beijing... One.

Dockfive (U14069239) posted Jul 15, 2009 Kwikscull, may I be as bold to suggest to your good self, that the current Kiwi pair will emulate the deeds of their fellow countrymen, Bridgewater & Twaddle, world champs of 2005. They will prevail over their recently beaten and shell shocked opposition..... yet again, with an empathic and convincing top of the podium finish. Due in no small part to the superior relaxed, rhythmic Kiwi technique, backed up by finely tuned aerobic capacity vs the enormous brute power and desire for revenge for the GB pair, which will tempered with the elements of an uncertain mindset, due to a seat change, with Reed now at stroke. The mental scars of recent battles will also play their part, as this struggle for the upper hand unfolds into the future.
