New Signings

Premier League Arsenal
comment on the article

At the time that we announced the arrival of the Belgian CB I posted an article saying that he would be THE ONLY relatively BIG NAME signing this close season.

In spite of all the ridiculous rumours which persist against ALL the evidence I am certain that my prediction will come true.

The sole exception would be some kind of swap deal to enable AW to get rid of the rotten apple in his barrel and get a genuine forceful BIG HEARTED striker to get us 20 goals per season.

Otherwise ZILCH.

PS. This is NOT a player - although The Sun may well pick up on this article and claim he is arriving for a medical prior to signing for around £20 million.

of course he will be the only big name signing. when have we EVER bought a 'Big Name' and experienced anything other than disappointment. Arsene doesn't buy big names. He makes them.

I have nothing but 100% trust in his abilities.

I dont want to support a team worth 200 million plus! I want to support a CLUB which has something far more valuable. Honour, respect and pride.

And i am VERY proud to call myself a gooner

Actually, I tend to believe the thought is more like "No one will be signed unless they are better than I believe one of our youngsters will be three or four years down the line."

We're a good team chasing greatness... questions is, can we ever achieve it?

don't think arsenal will be winning anything without a ball winner in the middle of the park. thats all you need though i reckon, possibly a striker swap for adebayor but i expect eduardo to be your main man up front if he can keep fit next season. if you manage to get melo then you've got as good a chance as anyone next term (as long as vermaalen turns out to be the player arsene expects). although i do think a lot will depend on being fortunate in not getting injuries to key players as there is quite a gap between the standard of you 1st 11 and the rest of the squad.

--------------------Eduardo
------nasri---------Arshavin--------walcott
------------FAbregas---------Melo
---clichy-----Gallas-------Vermaalen----sagna
-------------------Almunia

thats probablt what i'd go for maybe bring in van persie for nasri and stick arshavin on to the left...

out of interest i remember eduardo got injured towards the end of last season, will he be ready for the start of this one?

Has anyone though Vermalaen might actually play as the defensive midfielder ?

If he does I mentioned it first if he doesn't please forget this as quick as you can smiley

Lots have people have their heart set on Melo but that's dead for the cash mentioned so how about as Flamini's best season came after 3years at the club and Hlebs too that we all pray Denilson and Song have learnt a lot and worked hard and play better.

Anyone that mentions us signing Viera is just embarressing themselves.

He will play 20 games tops and is a sad shadow of his former self and for 80-100k a week is about as much value as an mps expenses.

the only one we have is song and he is just not good enough at the very top level...

------------------------------------------------------

I don't understand all the comments like this. Song is 21, the season before last he started 5 games. Last season was his first full season and he was improving all the time. What exactly were you expecting from an inexperienced 21 year old? Vieira? Gattuso? Makelele? What?

I am always interested in reading people saying buy this buy that. There are a few teams in the league spent big big money, did they get anything? Getting a player or two is no guarantee of any silverware. Be realistic, let the manager do his work.

The comments of chief executive Ivan Gazidis are comments I have been making for a long time.

You CANNOT buy a trophy....it takes time to build a side that will entertain and win.

I personally am not motivated buy silverware.

I support Arsenal for their style of play. If they win? Great! If they don't? Well, they don't!

It takes years to build a side and I can see none better than Arsenne Wenger to do the job.

So many stupid Gooners around.

Let me attack your many dumb comments.

1) Arsenal won't win any trophies - strangely enough, in the season before last we were 4 points from winning the league and had a great run in the CL. Bad luck and nothing else lost us the league. We came very close.

2) The season just finished we had very bad luck with our run of injuries, but we got to the FA Cup semi, the CL semi and we took 4 points off of Manchester United and 3 off Chelsea, so our team can compete but due to injury we were inconsistent.

3) Man U have lost Tevez and Ronaldo but gained £80m. Look at the players they have bought. They see themselves as some big lure but they are no more than us. None of the top players want to go to them.

4) Man U have a poor midfield - past it Scholes and Giggs, Kack Carrick, industrious Fletcher, water carrier Park and flashy useless Nani and new boy overrated Valencia. You cannot tell me, for example, that their midfield is anything to worry about. The same goes for Chelsea's, Liverpool's is slightly different however admittedly.

5) The cost of season tickets - you have no right to complain about what you see at the Emirates pal cos if you don't like it you have a choice ... don't renew your ticket. Some other lucky person will get to go in your place. You don't actually have an argument. I'd take your ticket off you, never forget there is a long waiting list ... you aren't as important as you think mate.

With a fresh and fit squad we have a fantastic squad, add the 2 missing links from last season - Rosicky and Eduardo and a new defender to plug the gap at the back and there are certainly 3 good reasons to be optimistic about what we have currently.
