It was great to see the way Lankans played as they went onto to win the first test. At 71 for 2 Pakistan looked well on course for a fine victory as they needed only 97 more runs for a victory but a fine team effort form the Lankan bowlers helped them to win the match.

One has to also say that some of the Pakistani batsmen like Akmal, Malik showed poor technique. Most of their batsmen were coming half forward and pushing at deliveries outside the off stump especially Akmal looked like he would get out every delivery! Rauf and other tailenders tried their best but they had too much to do. Actually today Rauf showed better technique than some of their batsmen.

The Lankan bowlers must have analyzed that some of the Pakistani batsmen come half forward so they pitched it further up and got the rewards especially Herat and Tushara bowled well. Mendis too bowled better in the second innings as he pitched it further up and it was good to see that he did it as in the first innings on a slightly slower track he bowled a bit too short and the batsmen picked him off the pitch but if he pitches it further up like in the second innings he can still be a threat.

So again well done to Lanka as well as to the curator for preparing a good pitch as there was something in it for all the bowlers! I do think that Galle has easily replaced Kandy as the best wicket of Lanka.

I strongly encourage Pakistan cricket fasn to adore and woship SM Gavaskar's feats on his 60th birthday occassion - Gavaskar was hads and shoulers above any Pak. batsman any time in history and even Imran writes in his book, Sunny was the greatest batsman he bowled to - BTW, I like Imran and Wasim Raja, two gentlemen cricketers

instead of praising average Pskistani cricketers that play today, why not Pak fans admire Gavaskar, Kapil and Sachin and earn the respect of South Indians

All out for 90 in the first inning and Murali isn't even bowling here!
