LondonsFinestClub (U11217560) posted Jul 6, 2009 This is probably the most realistic price paid for a player this summer in a ridiculously inflated market. Zhirkov is to many the most complete left sider in the game, he can tackle, crosses well, dribbles well, is very quick and has great stamina. Allied to Terry staying put, Chelsea have cemented their defensive unit and added extra width. Zhirkov has provided options right down the left side....a snip!!!

The importance of being Didier. (U2869136) posted Jul 7, 2009 Also means we can have an effective 3-5-2. As good as Ashley is, he oesn't work in a 3-5-2.

Maga The Urn (U11881247) posted Jul 8, 2009 To be honest, I don't really know that much about him. WIth his fellow countryman Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavychenko also plying their trade in England, I am sure he will have seeked much needed advice from the duo about whether or not it would be good at this stage of his career to move to the capital, to Chelsea, to Stamford Bridge. At left back supposedly, he should be a solid player. Nothing flashy, just someone who goes about his business with minimum fuss.

The Unused Substitute (U5496484) posted Jul 8, 2009 He isn't a left-back; he plays anywhere on the left-hand side. It is therefore safe to assume that he will be battling it out with Malouda for that left-wing spot - Ashley Cole will quite rightly retain his place at left-back. Also, implying that he is a simple player who plays with 'minimum fuss' is way wide of the mark. He is fast, tricky and has bags of ability from what I can tell. Case in point:
