  • Players: Roger Federer (Sui) v Andy Roddick (USA)
  • Venue: Centre Court, Wimbledon
  • Play start time: 1400 BST

PREVIEW:
Roger Federer takes on Andy Roddick looking to make Wimbledon history on Sunday. The Swiss second seed is looking for his sixth Wimbledon title, against the number six seed. The two players have met twice before in the Wimbledon final, with Roger Federer winning both of them. In 2004, Federer won by three sets to one, before winning in straight sets one year later in 2005. Roger Federer beat Tommy Haas in his semi-final on Friday, whilst Andy Roddick dashed Britain's hopes of a men's finalist, by winning 3-1 on Friday.

The last six Wimbledon finals have only involved three players - Roger Federer (6 times), Andy Roddick (3 times) and Rafael Nadal (3 times).

"I'm very proud of all the records I've achieved because I never thought I would be that successful as a kid" - Roger Federer

"I had to play my best tennis to win. I can't say enough good things about Andy's game. But I can play some tennis sometimes. Not many people were giving me much of a chance, but I knew if I could stay the course, I had a chance" - Andy Roddick

I am unbelievably gutted that Roddick lost, not least because I bet a tenner on him winning. Nothing against Feddy, I just have a soft spot for A-Rod. sadface

Will somebody tell me how Sue Barker had the temerity to stick a microphone under Roddick's nose and ask him "How do you feel" after a match like that. Why didn't somebody have the common decency to stop her? It is time the whole practice of on-court interviews, a recent phenomenom in any event, was stamped out. The woman is a menace.

They've been doing on court interviews at least since Aránzazu Arantxa Isabel Maria Sánchez Vicario won the the French Open.

Well, it has been a memorable tournament guys and gals. I'm gutted that Roddick didn't win it (I think he was the best player in the tournament overall), but glad that he silenced the Murray fans. smiley See you all again some other time! cheers

i totally understand that the crowed supported roddick as an underdog and a fighter but i was badly surprised to see that they gave federer such a cold support towards the end!

is this the way they treat such a wimbledon champion?
like nadal is treated is paris?
is this what the greatest champs deserve?
cold applauses?
it's pathetic!
shameful crowd of losers and frustrated guys!

yonoots, maybe selfish, wanted Andy Roddick to win because he beat Murray on Friday. It's always a decent(ish) feeling if you lose to the eventual winner of a tournament (unless it's in the final)!

Tonight we witnessed history being made - it would have been even more poignant if the Duke of Kent had deferred to Pete Sampras to hand over the trophy... that would have been a nice touch for both Roger and Andy.
