Real Madrid close in on Benzema

comment on the article

Well, it looks like we won't be signing him after all.

Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign striker Karim Benzema from Lyon, according to the French club.

The fee is believed to 30m for the 21-year-old France international and could rise to 35m.

Benzema had also been linked with Manchester United but now looks set for a switch to the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have already signed forwards Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka as well as defender Raul Albiol for a combined 148m so far this summer.

RE. Mourinho=Trophies

While I can understand you getting annoyed with that post (not mine, I hope!), it was after several pretty ridiculous posts by a Chelsea fan claining that ALL Unuted's success was due to Ferguson bribing Mike Riley. I pointed out that Riley gave terrible decisions for and against everyone (and quoted two awful decisions against Chelsea). The poster simply got more and more abusive.

And no, two Premier League titles is not to be sneezed at!

Now, returning to the topic - it's getting less and less clear who we will sign; how about Chelsea? Surely you need another striker?

Fair enough.

Is this really your level of analysis? One minute it's all Riley and now you want to claim that it was Ronlado cheating? Seriously, is this the way you see football?

I asked the question of someone else in the spirit of inquiry. What on earth is the matter with you?

We do need another striker but I am sure it wouldn't be a big name.

rockreddevilsforlife

Some of our players might be old but that doesn't mean that we wouldn't be able to compete for the Pl and the CL.

And about ancelotti, I am sure he will win trophies and would be able to convince Roman to keep him for next season.

I have a sense of humour - try saying something funny. You original post was just dumb - and judging from some of your more reasonable posts, I think you know it and probably regret it!

I accept you weren't abusive to me - I genuinely apologise.

Now, why not clinb down a bit, don't always fall back on claims that the other person has no sense of humour - and discuss properly. Seriously, despite all that's gone before, it's clear that you do have reasonable opinions; more interesting, surely?

Peace?

not sure where you think the money for aguero will come from, you would certainly have to sell to buy him and with the system you play he wouldn't leave to play second fiddle to torres.

as for owen over the course of the season i think he can score 15 goals for us, its good to have a different type of forward, if he's playing off the shoulder he'll occupy defenders and hopefully create more space. i'd just like utd to have a quality supply line from the centre of the park, rooney will create but a real creative attacking midfielder would make me feel more confident. to be clear though i think berbatov and rooney will start most games as 1st choice strikers.

do you chelsea need another striker?

anelka and drogba start ist choice, both world class.
kalou, got some goals last season.
sturridge, new signing has starting well in preseason.
shevchenko, back from loan and with ancellotti at helm might see improvement from him.
pizzaro, also back from loan. has done it in his career, not a bad 5th choice.

It could be that one or even two of these players leave before start of season, then replacements would have to be found.
