I don't see that we have much choice. With the amount of money we have, if we went for proven premiership experience we would only be able to afford one signing - and then the squad would be way too small. All we can do is buy plenty of promising youngsters and strong players from the likes of the championship and SPL, and hope they can make the step up. I for one trust Coyle's eye for a player.

I certainly am not in the ilk of hoping you get relegated, i think that probably is what i would hope for if PNE went up.

Get some youngsters in, ready for the season after or you could just do what Stoke have done and actually stay up!!!!

Seems the lad is okay in his position and its a position we need pace and youth in too, so he fits the bill. If you get played out of position as this lad invariably did, its no wonder he has been trying to get to us for the last 12 months.

I think we have a great mix of players, nowt wrong with Edgar, Pele would have struggled in that Newcastle team.
Mears, same as above, no disrespect to Derby but they should have parked a real bus across the goal.
Fletcher, untried in the big leagues and only one way to do it, go for it.
IF we get relegated so what, we will probably move some of the older players out and leave ourselves with a good solid team for the promotion bid in 2010-11. Not going to worry, OC got the plan and knows what he is doing. Just shove it up the a#$%es of the roovers.

tom, your spot on there mate, we can't pick and choose who we want like some fans think but we can try and select good young players to develope, perhaps if newcastle showed more faith in him..........

Edgar was awful for Newcastle last season. He is far too slow to play in the Premiership.

ok, this is a newcastle fan speaking here

you can say that i have no place to comment here, but after all, he was our player

in all honesty, he isn't great. he isn't fast enough, and his positioning often leaves him high and dry

as for the comment about pele and newcastle last season, that may be so, but let's face it, edgar hasn't got the skill to come close to being mentioned in the same sentence as the brazilian legend
