I live in India where TV shows any cricket that is going. I never got the chance to see it in the UK but tonight I have been watching the England women's playing Australia and I am completely impressed! For sure there are less of the fireworks and power hitting than we get used to seeing in the men's game but the stroke play (especially by Sarah Taylor) is sublime.

I feel ashamed to say that I would never even have contemplated watching this before but I am glad I did and I recommend other cricket fans to do the same - it really is superb!

Don't bank on terrestrial channels showing women's cricket any time soon. Andy Burnham when CMS secretary reprimanded the media for not supporting women's sport - why, because the media are run by men for men.

Come out of the 19th century, media people! That's your challenge for the 21st. You show women's tennis, why not women's cricket, rugby, football or whatever?

Well done the team! Excellent! Many congratulations on a hat-trick of victories! This really is dominant form. I'm away from home right now, but I promise you there'll be jigging on the streets of Madrid tonight, even if cricket does bewilder all my Spanish friends.

OK! Now we want the Ashes! All efforts directed towards that now, to cap two years of terrific performances.

4-0...cant believe the last 2 matches were not covered by sky after the first 2 excellent games. Who in this country is interested in West indies v India being on the telly when the England girls are playing. Any other country would have these girls on prime time TV. Shame on everyone concerned. Hope we get the Final test match. When do we get the Highlights.

A thrilling match at Wormsley and fantastic performances by players in both teams.

Sky obviousley pampering to their asian audience (viewing figures) in their choice of match. A continued bias to the men's game.

The atmosphere after the game was excellent too with player and supporters mingling freely none of this heavy stewarding we mow see at a County pro level. Me thinks they've forgotten their roots in the name of Health & safety

Well done again to the ladies. I watched the first two matches on Sky (via VirginMedia) but since then they haven't shown them or else they are on the red button which isn't available to non direct Sky watchers.

I was greatly impressed by the standard of fielding and very surprised by the strength of the throw ins.

Great to see a whip fast wicket keeper, so much better than the pedestrian Prior in the mens team.

Keep it going ladies, a white wash would be a great achievement.

This may not be a popular post, but it's the way I feel. I believe there is a politically correct agenda in sports, whereby women's versions of traditionally male sports are being shoved down our throat by socialist media like the BBC. I believe there is nothing sexist about preferring to let the paying customer decide what they want to watch, and not having left lunatics foist this rubbish upon us. I prefer women's tennis, I prefer women's ice skating, I think women's track an field is terrific. But let's not create artificial hype for the farce that is women's cricket, OK, BBC?

SGE is entitled to his opinion, of course, but maybe he doesn't know anything of the record of this outstanding England team, which has been dominant in the women's game since the winter of 2007/8. It's not a question of a women's "version of cricket." They play the same game, with the same rules, moreover with a great deal of skill, application and will to win, as many of the above posts acknowledge.

Very many congratulations to Charlotte Edwards and her team of champions. - And btw - Is Laura Marsh lining herself up for player of the series? She must be in with more than a shout. Well done her - and well done Jack Birkenshaw for converting her to spin bowling.

Just two more things wanted! The whitewash - and the Ashes. Anyone thereafter not voting for them as team of the year, needs a brain scan!

I think the former England Manager should stop living in the Dark Ages. Our Current England Womens Cricket Team are a fantastically athletic team and the most successful International Team which we have in this Country at the moment. They are World 50 over Champions(won in Sydney in March),World 20/20 Champions(won in June 2009),current Ashes holders as well as leading the current 5 ODI series against Australia 4-0.You will not find a more committed and hard working team. They are great to watch and highly respected commentators such as Michael Atherton,Nick Knight,Paul Allott,Ian Ward are highly complimentary about the high standard of play in all aspects of play batting/bowling/fielding.You should be proud to have an England who are now rightly crowned WORLD CHAMPIONS desevedly so.
