Top seeds' paths to the final

First of all, well done to Murray today - he did the job well. That said, Troicki was poor and I don't think Murray proved anything we didn't know already.

Plenty has been said about Murray having an easy route to the final , and compared to Federer, he certainly has a nice draw - however, it's not going to be easy, and of the top seeds, Djokovic has the easiest run up to the semis.

Here are the likely opponents for the top seeds now:

______________________________________________________________

MURRAY

4R: Wawrinka.
Murray's toughest match so far, but he's a heavy favourite. Should win in 3 or 4 sets.

QF: Simon, or maybe Ferrero.
Either would be a test - I expect Simon to get to the QF and take a set, or possibly two, off Murray.

SF: Probably Roddick, possibly Hewitt or Berdych.
Roddick would definitely be a big test - he's looking in good form. And though Hewitt's nowhere near Murray in the rankings, he could have just the right grass court game to take on Murray - he'd chase everything, and wouldn't make too many unforced errors. Murray would have to hit many more winners than he did today to get past him.

DJOKOVIC

4R: Sela
Sela's had a great run but shouldn't be a problem. Straight sets win for Novak.

QF: Andreev or Haas
Djokovic should beat either in 3 or 4 sets.

SF: Federer
Probably game over.

______________________________________________________________

FEDERER

4R: Soderling
Potential banana skin, yes, and Soderling is on good form, but he hasn't had to beat any seeds so far. Federer to win in straight sets.

QF: Verdasco or Karlovic
Either would be a tricky opponent. Personally if I was Federer I'd be hoping for Verdasco - Karlovic's serve is just terrifying, and if he's firing on all cylinders he could easily force a tie-break in every set, and possibly nick them. I'd fancy him to take a set or two off Federer.

SF: Djokovic
Difficult, but I'd expect Federer to win in 4 sets.

OVERALL PREDICTIONS:

Anything could happen, but you'd have to be a bit deluded one way or the other to go against the bookies, who still have Federer as clear favourite and Murray as clear second favourite.

I don't think Djokovic can win, but he's also, in my view, the least likely to slip up before the semis.

Federer has the toughest draw... but he's Federer, which is always an advantage ;)

If I was going to put any bets down, I'd be betting on:

- Murray to win
- Murray to drop out before the final
(The odds some bookies are offering seem to imply they think Murray is a shoe-in for the final, but would have no chance of beating Federer - I disagree on both counts)
- Federer to lose in the QF to Karlovic
(The odds will be pretty good - I don't expect it to happen but it could be worth a punt)

However, I'm expecting a Federer win, like most sane people ;)

"I expect Simon to get to the QF and take a set, or possibly two, off Murray" - Absolutely no chance. He has nothing on Murray.

"Roddick would definitely be a big test - he's looking in good form." - Why do people keep saying Roddick would be such a test? He hasn't bee on good form, he's dropped sets against easy opponents and is far too one dimensional to cause Murray any concern.

Anyone who thinks Murray has a tough or tricky draw en route to the final is clearly deluded. It is probably an even easier draw since Nadal's draw to the final last year. Clearly Federer section is top heavy which makes far more interesting viewing than straight set walk overs Murray will enjoy en route to the final. The tennis Gods are clearly on his side so I think it is not too premature to call a result in his favour on Sunday. I mean he is playing well, is full of confidence and I really cannot see anyone being able to take 3 sets off him in this form unless he is caught out on a bad day.

Murray will be lamenting his chances tonight- he will be watching the quarterfinals in his new house.

Why do there seem to be so many bitter english folk out there!? I'm not saying you all are, but there are certainly a good amount that are bitter because he is not...well, english! Im a Scot and was always supporting Henman beacuse he is British afterall! Im sick of all this anti-scots, anti-english c**p! Get over it!

Murray to get to final, but will probably be knocked out by the Fed meister.

Federer's draw definitely looks the tougher, but looking further than a round ahead remains a very theoretical exercise as so much could happen yet.

And Murray's draw easy? Well, certainly a better one that Federer's, but it is hardly of the sort that Henman used to get, and he still couldn't get to the end game. Anyone remember that great quarter final opponent, Andre Sa?

baston thats well unfair i think henman lost to samprass(regarded as the best player or at worst the second best player ever) in 4 or more wimbledons(in the semis or the quarters)- and of course he pretty much won it everyyear
